OR THOUGHT OF WRITING ONE BY COMBINING THEIR STORIES
I know I WISH I had kept track of things when I was dealing with my son's active addiction, but to tell you the truth it was so emotionally exhausting the thought didn't even cross my mind at the time! Just getting through one day at a time was hard enough! The reason I wish I had is because people, including myself, misunderstand drug addicts. I always thought they came from "bad" families (where the children were abused or neglected) until my own son became one. If I had the facts more in place, I probably would have tried to write a book to help others avoid the mistakes I made and also help them realize they didn't cause the problem and that it happens to good people from good families. I still might some day!
