How much easier it is to be happy when you're sober? I mean yeah its hard when you start obsessing about alcohol and have to fight off cravings and stuff. But if you can get your head away from that for a few minutes you start to realise how much happier you are.
I just feel up - I still struggle with stuff, but I find it easier to lighten up about things and to laugh and not sweat the small stuff.
Anyway, I feel good. Went to a meeting last night, going to another one tonight. Last night I was so excited to go home and cook, I made up my own dish with all these leftovers and guess what? It was yummy, and not only that I now have lunch for today cause I cooked last night. It just feels so good to do normal things - like cook a meal and enjoy doing it. When I drink its all I could do to take the frozen meal out of the box and stick it in the oven.

You are soooo right. It's amazing how good it feels to just be "Normal", well as normal as you can be and be an alcoholic. When you are down you feel like you will never feel good again and the depression is unbearable. I am so glad that you are feeling better and I just wanted to respond since you always brighten my day with responses to my threads. You have a great evening or is it morning? I have no idea what time it is over there???? I guess I didn't pay attention in geography. LOL. Take care

It's that happiness and gratitude that i have to store and rely on if my a** starts falling off before i can talk to someone. FUN does happen in recovery and that is another reason i love it so much. When i'm in my pity pot over my head it is still better than my last day drinking wishing i was dead.

Hi there all my cyber buddies! Oh yes, life is just grand when you are sober. Idgie, my hubby and I went for a lovely walk on the beach yesterday afternoon shared a plate of fries, then came home and cooked a fab dinner, watched the hockey game, then watched a movie, it was so wonderful, and no Booze!! :) I can so relate to that good feeling! everything is so much clearer and under control, Just love this lifestyle!!
