Well ,Con ,you hit the nail on the head! You said my son's pattern was to pop in about every 2-3 months and you were so right! He sent me a text last night after three month of no contact.
He said could I please use my computer and check his car title loan balance owed. He was polite and his text typing was very correct with spelling and punctuation. Usually when he is taking something his text messages are messed up to.
I text him back the balance owed and that is was ordered for repossession. He said he got a job 2 weeks ago and had to put a radiator in his car for $250 so all he had left was $60 till Friday. He asked me if I thought the car loan company would take that until Friday when he gets paid. I told him to call them. He said he would on Monday when they open. Didn't ask us for money so maybe he is getting the point!
Not to sound like a suspicious mom ,but I am one after all we have dealt with ,and when he said they weren't open till Monday, I knew that wasn't true. This also stinks of his typical MO for hoping we would say--well ,gee,Chris let us pay again to catch you up!! haha!
I text him "so sorry you are having bad luck" and he said "that isn't even close"!
That was the end of the text. At least my prayers have been answered to know he was alive!

lol - it does sound like typical MO. maybe he has job, maybe he had car repairs, maybe he has $60 left - that he will need to get thru next week..... dont get sucked in !!! as you noticed, he 'sounds' better, so maybe he's on a better path.... dont mess it up by getting yourself into his business, keep it status quo!! smiles.

Now you know he is OK! Be cautiously hopeful that he has a job and is working things out for himself but don't set yourself up for disappointment. Don't let your guard down. They like to dangle that carrot like they are doing so well but...so we will jump in to help again.

Haven't heard from j since mid January , he tried for a few weeks and I didn't budge. I text him on birthday but he never answered. Phone must be off again, :)
