Hi! I'm still here Bob...just havent had much to say in the past couple days, but i'm still checking the posts, etc! How are you doing?
I am doing good. It's been 20 days sober now...which is amazing. But you know what i've noticed, and let me know if the rest of you have had this problem....I am drinking a LOT of cola. Some people have told me its to replace the sugar in the booze. I think it's more to just have somthing in my hand to drink. It's not healthy at any rate, and Diet Cola just isnt cutting it. It's gotta be Coca Cola. Urgh...another addiction? I mean i'm only drinking like a glass or two a day, but still! I NEVER use to drink pop cause it's so unhealthy, but now that I'm not drinking, I can't stay away from it! Am I unusual, or is this normal?
its not unhealthy compared with what you woukd be drinking otherwise! Look after your teeth and chew sugar-free gum and Im sure a couple of glasses a day won't hurt.

Well, another day without drinking. it's been surprisingly not that hard. I just hope that I'll do good next weekend for my friend's birthday party. I think I will...I have already gotten through a few parties without drinking, why should this one be any different right? I think i will try and go to an AA meeting this Sunday, since I havent been to a face to face one yet..only online. I am scared &^$%less, but I need to do it.

First congrats on the 20 days!! That is awesome!!!! Don't worry about the cola....Since I quit drinking and drugging....i drink coffee like there is no tomorrow!!! Its not as bad as when I first got sober but I still drink alot of coffee. You are not alone...alot of recovering alcoholics drink coffee, or soda...some eat alot of sweets...I know my father in law was one to eat alot of sweets instead. I tell you this ..its a heck of alot better than drinking alcohol!!! Congrats on trying the AA meeting on Sunday. Awesome idea!! AA saved my life! Let us know how it went ok? Its ok to be scared, I was scared s***less myself at first. Just remember you are not alone in this. We have all been right where you are, some still trying to just get a day. So your doing great, keep it up!!! take care of you!!

Hi Gina,
good to see you so well. My wife is almost 12 months clean and doing great. I am in the middle of 3 weeks off work and enjoying time with my 3 sons.
I mainly hangout in the friends/family forum but lurk in th eothers so I see that both you and Bob are well.
