Hi everyone
I have been reading the posts and wonder if anyone can give me some advice? I guess its all been said before? I am in the UK and am addicted to nurofen + which contains ibuprofen, caffeine and the very addicitve codeine phosphate (12.8mg per pill). I have been taking these pills now for about 5 years and once got up to as many as 36 per day - all taken at once for effect. Now I have managed to get down to 12 pills per day. I seem to be able to do without them for 3 or 4 days and then start again. This roller coaster is killing me - makes me so depressed, unmotivated etc etc. Why is it that I can manage to stay off for a few days but then inevitably go back on again? I have tried and tried and tried..............
I have been reading at the solpadeine site and the overcount site - but still I continue ............ I really cannot understand it. But its the nature of addiction? Anyone out there with a similar problem? Any advice would be so very welcome.
Simple
First let me say hi and welcome to the board!
The problem is addiction.Everyone here knows it.
It's something that we all struggle w/ daily. Some more than others.
But the fight to stay clean is well worth it.
Do you have any f2f support?NA/AA that you could go to?
More support the better. If i can help at all, please let me know.
Keep coming to post here it helps to get you thru the dark times.
Take care.

Codeine Addiction Help Forum
This site specialises in codeine addiction. Tapering is not the only way and doesn't work for the majority of codeine addicts, despite what you will read on Over-Count and Solpadeine Help. CAHF will give you a range of detox options.

Anyway you can go to your doctor and let them help you? They have detox options that will help you get off of them.
Tapering does work for some, and not others, there is a way to do it with a schedule, I did it under a doctors care,,and even then if you don't feel your strong enough to not take them, you will need someone to hold them for you. Just a suggestion.
Are you getting these from a doctor?
38 at one time?? The tylonal alone is dangerous. I think you said it had tylonal in it.
Good luck,,

What DJ said. Getting clean is one thing, staying clean is a whole other ballgame. You say you can go 3 days or so without the pills - that's really great! Flush your pills and find some f2f support. It can get pretty dicey early on and having others to rely on is invaluable.
Good luck;
