I have been taking pain pills for a year now and it has really ruined my life just about. I have been clean since sunday and i am getting some counseling. I feel really crappy right now. Is there any advise on withdrawals and how do i stay off of these things. I have been a mess for a week now. I need someone to talk to.Someone who will understand what im going through

Misty,
Welcome to the board. Congrts on Day # 2. What were you taking? How much a day? I can give you a list of all the OTC medications that helped me. There are many people here that can relate to what you are going through, you are not alone. Write me back! Rae

Everybody on this board will talk to you and has gone thru what your are going thru right now. You can do this if you just take it one step at a time. Also, you might read "wackyjakies diary" post as well as the "Easter Plunge" post. Both have great information and you will probably be able to relate to these as well as other posts.

Remember, stay focused, it will get better. There are alot of great people that watch this board and I am sure they will respond.

Good Luck
Hi Misty and welcome top the board, you have found a great place for where you are at right now. Withdrawl is no day at the beach, what you are going through is normal and there is more to come. The physical part can last for up to 2 weeks, most say its over in a week to 10 days though. Try taking over the counter meds for your symptoms to help get you through. As far as advice on staying away from using, thats on you. Everyday is a choice in front of you, to pick up the pills or not too. I can tell you all day long to not use, but at the end of the day, that choice ends up in your lap. You have to do this for yourself, but it can be done. Have you thought about going to meetings and working a program?
There are alot of peoples stories here, read up on some posts and try to find strenght from them, you arer not alone. Let us know what you need from us, sometimes its just to vent, other times its a swiift kick in the butt.
I have found that staying clean is the best thing I can do for myself, but it is also the hardest thing, but so worth it.
