Help! Started Mmt 17 Days Ago, Not Feeling Relief

Hi
I started mmt on May 14, at 30 mg, went up 5mg every day every day for the first 5days, then on the 6th day they stopped moving me up. I had my orientation last Friday, which was my 11th day, I was moved to 61mg, (went up 6mg).
I have been having gnarly diarrhea EVERY night, and my cravings start again some 5 hours after I dose.
Background: opiates used daily for 17years, the last 2years, I stepped up my pill popping to 30 Norco 10mg a day, and when i ran out, I would buy off the street.(not to mention, the 60 oxy 10mg).
I am so over doing that.
I almost feel like the mmt is not doing its thing.
I hear so many people saying their dose is something near mine, and their doing fine.
I almost feel like it would be better just to go back to my old ways, just bc I feel so very discouraged.
I guess, since I am new to mmt, I need reassuring that I took the right step.
Please HELP.
Thank you
Update:
I just had my appointment with my counciler, he upped my dose to 67mg.
Thanks
maramara,
Hi and welcome.
You will just have to be patient I'm afraid. Methadone is a great way to stop using opiates but your dose has to be added to carefully. It IS NOT a one dose fits all. (While I am on 100mg a day my husband is on 70) Everyone is different.
But I am sorry you are still not feeling well after this many days. I'm not sure of the legalities of it but I don't think the clinic can take you up more than 10mg at a time lest it be too much. Please don't listen to the "lobby doctors" either. They may tell you OH that dose is SO high!! Or one of many other lies. Listen to your body and your counselor and the doctor. It will take what it will take to get you to a dose "that holds you", meaning you won't crave opiates and you will feel more "normal." Sleeping all night etc. If your dose is too high all you'll do is nod.
You don't say whether or not you are feeling better after the 5mg raise to 67. How are you feeling now? Please check back in so we know you are OK.

good luck!!

Hi Granny,
Thank you for your words.
I took my new dose if 67mg at 6:00 this morning.
And it just doesn't seem to hold. It stopped doing it's magic about 30 minutes ago.
And the horrible diarrhea and drug cravings come back and hit me like a big rig in a flower bed!
I guess I am worried because of my annoying insomnia, its been nearly 3 weeks.
I was hoping for a miracle, hehe.
I will just be patient.
My counciler said that I can come in tomorrow morning when I dose, to fill out the forms needed to increase my dose, after my third consecutive day, of course.
I will definitely keep you informed.
Even though we just met, thank you for being here!
I don't really have anyone to talk to who understands this.
