As most of you know by now...I stopped counting clean days due to taking some pain pills..have had 2 months of pain..now I have shingles(stress),,I am REAL unhappy about being on pain medication..in fact, I woke with that good ol' sweaty withdrawal feeling and I thought "oh no..I am not going through this hell again"..granted I am still in a lot of pain..but I will start to taper to 2 a day and jump off(hopefully) by Thursday..I can't CT right now..the pain is brutal..I don't want this hell in my life again....I will just have to look at like cowgirl said"What if I were allergic to pain pills"..well, guess what, I am..I am an addict and always will be one...Using pain meds even legitimately is risky business for me.Thanks, Sharonn BTW I do not judge anyone elses decisions, but i know for me, this is NOT the answer....my pain is chronic..I cannot take this crap for the rest of my lofe!!!! Yesterday I was in Shoprite and some dumb song was playing..I could not think of the guy's name..my brain is so fried..I am bad enough without it.

I started taking some prednisone last night for my pain...cold weather and fibro just do NOT get along...but I am enjoying the cool mornings...high is supposed to be in the 60's...and thanks to the cool weather, i've been able to sleep in my bed with a heated mattress pad, it's like sleeping on a heating pad....gotta love it after months of sleeping in a recliner....

Janet..for me, with the Lupus and all, I feel the shingles were a result of stress and the fact that my already compromised immune system was lowered with the pred..I DO NOT want to take it again..i am trying to build up my immune system with vitamins and such...sick to death of Drs. and all their drugs..SICK OF IT I tell ya!!!! I know what you mean Sharonn, we have dr bills up the ying-yang...I really didn't want to take the Preds, but I feel that it will help me get out of pain sooner...they make me eat though...something i don't need any help with...and the conundrum is that the weight I've put on doesn't help the Fibro...all that much more weight on my back and my ankles have been really hurting too...but I will live through it...

I'm glad I don't have to watch Kenny everyday...i couldn't handle all the back, neck and shoulder pain from stooping to pick him up...
He's a cutie though, I pray that having him around will help my husband resolve his issues with Jana...he's still angry because she reneged on a car loan that he co-signed for...we've had to pay it for the last year and sure could use the money to live on...
Saturday night I was busy cooking fries and kenny needed supper, so my hubby fed him...and he's been playing with him too, glad to see his resentments don't extend to an innocent child, though he is so happy that Kenny resembles Jana, more than his daddy...my husband and I had a falling out with Jana, between the car and us not approving of her choice of men...thankfully she's not using the heavy drugs that she was, when she was with him. Although she did call Friday night and I could tell that she was messed up...don't know on what...I sure wish she could get clean, but it's all in good time, when she is ready....

Boy isn't that the truth...the Dr's want to keep giving you meds.........line their pockets with the ol' mighty $$'s........I say check into all the herbs you can to help thru the pain.anxity and depression..I am finding that DLPA seems to work for my siatic nerve pain........after playing hard this week end I thought for sure I was not gonna be able to get up this morning...but I did.....and just have a little pain in butt.LOL
I take a supplement called Ambrotose. You really should research it on the net. It is amazing stuff. I started using it right after my cancer scare and I have not been sick a day since. No aches and pains, no illnesses. Now, maybe I'm just a healthy person (finally) or this stuff is the miracle cureall.
Wouldn't hurt to check it out.

I am so angry and sick of being a victim..I really believe your state of mind will make or break you..I took 2 advil..a hot bath, some clean clothes and I am out of this house..no more pity party..I WILL be off the horrid pills soon...love,S
Pam I had top boost my steroids from 5- 20 mg as I developed inflamation in my big toe. Could not walk properly without a knifing pain through my toe.
Anyway Pam- Sharon if a med whether its pred--or a pain pill if you need it you take it.

I wish you would look into Suboxene. It will help with pain and give you some quality of life back.
Prednisone used in short spurts for you ladies in pain is not goingto get you any real bad side effects--a little bloat ? moody your all like that anyway--LOL Just kidding.
Chronic Pain is like a game--You need a gameplan to fight it. You have trust your doctors but also its your responsibility to become educated.

See this where people mess up. Morning breafkast is most important. Good fiber cereal some fruit yogurt--no caffeine. I cant tell you how much better I feel and sleep without the caffeine. Ladies it is very hard to change your diet. One of the hardest things I have ever accomplished. No more red meat -fish--salmon 3 times a week.ETC ETC--you get my drift.
I just hate to hear your all suffering.

Sharron, my son and I both take ambertose. It is a fantastic immune booster and it cures tons of ailments. I think CG's post recommends it not for pain but for your immune system. It has cured so many illnesses its not funny. It is expensive but worth it. I advocate the advise.

Put on one of Tony's t-shirts and nothing else - that's why the sheets were hurting you. I had a friend who had them where you do and she wore her husband t-shirt and u'wear for 6 weeks. I remember her saying that any other clothes attacked her. Mine were in the nerves in my head and down in my eye and up to my crown so I just had to keep my hair pulled back. I know you have told me that you can't take the medication, have they given you any other alternatives for the Shingls? Maybe an injection. Doctors told me that it wasn't caused from nerves but the year I had it - I had 3 bad things happen in my life. A doctor will still stick to that story. Nurses have told me differently. You have had every reason for all of the stress.
I pray so much for you to just get some relief. I know the med I took years ago when I had it, you are not able to take. Are there any other drugs for Shingles?
