Hey Everybody:)

Hi! Just wanted to wish everyone a happy and safe weekend. This is a very busy weekend here because of the 4th of July celebrations. Everyone will be rushing here and there and barbequeing and partying and carrying on. It's always been a big party weekend for me in the past, so i know i will be very vulnerable this weekend. A lady that owns the bar down the road from me called and asked if i could work with her this weekend since they'll be extra busy, and i had to turn her down. There's just no way that i could work behind a bar right now, or probably ever for that matter. But I had to make up an excuse because i don't know her well enough to tell her that i am a chronic alcoholic and that i'm trying to stay sober. I guess i did manage to hide it from a few people anyways;) I could've really used the extra $, but i just can't.

Anyways, just wanted to say Hi, and i hope everyone stays safe and sober this weekend;)
IMHO....If you had diabetes, you wouln't hide it would you???
Alcoholism is a disease and you are taking your medicine...recovery...
Be proud. Don't be ashamed. Your doing well.
I'm really not ashamed, i just live in a very small community, and people gossip about everything, it seems they don't understand, and for a few different personal reasons i don't want this one particular lady to know, that's all. Otherwise pretty much everyone else that knows me knows, and i'm not ashamed, i'm proud that i'm doing something about it. Who knows maybe she even does know.
Jayde, I'm so proud of your decision to stay away from the Bar....I know when I was early in sobriety I never could have done that either. Same type of thing going on around here at the beach as in your town. I'm off today through the 4th so I am so happy about that! The AA Roundup is going on all 5 days and that's gonna be so much sober fun! My BF just left me a message, he's been away business for two weeks and he surprised me and said he has tix to the formal that they having at the round-up (dinner, dancing and a show). It kinda surprised me cause he is a homebody, he works a ton and I thought he'd be too tired to go...but needless to say I'm pleasantly surprised. I started off the vacation by going shopping with my youngest daughter last night and we rented "Failure to Launch" ~ it was so-so...anyways....I'm gonna check the rest of the board, start doing my errands and T, my Sponsee, gets out of the mental ward today and I'm pickin' her up, and going to help her get settled into sober living...she's also gonna go to roundup activities with me and I'm gonna intro her to a bunch of the women! That's it for me....wanted to catch up with you and everyone else too! Have a great weekend everyone....you are all so special to me!
Hey Jayde....you are a strong woman to turn that job down. That is great! I know it was hard. I still am around alcohol all the time and yes it gets hard at times but in the beginning it was definately a no no. The first few times I was around alcohol when I tried to get sober for years....I always cracked. I just kept telling myself I can't have booze, I can't have booze, I can't have booze and before I knew it I was having booze. I now just go about my business and realize that there is alcohol everywhere but I just can't have any. When I get pissy cuz everyone is having fun I just think of all the good times I did have albeit many I don't remember but it seems to help. I just had all my good times in a short period of time. You hang on friend you will be okay! I'm here if you need a friend.

VWGirl...glad to see you are back, was wondering what was the dealio! Your BF sounds like a sweetheart love bug. Hold on to that one! I got a post from you a few days ago on the boredum thread from Izzy and I forgot to respond. You mentioned I should have your daughter for a day and listed all her activites and running around. I was laughing soooooo hard I had tears. I don't even know you but for some reason I had a running dialog with your voice in my head reading that. Toooo Funny. You are such a great lady and I appreciate all your encouragement. 10/6/06 is 10 months for me. . Yippeeeeeee. Have fun at your roundup and peace to you and your family.

Jayde I will be thinking of you over the weekend.

Jayde, My Sponsor says we are anonymous as appropriate...always choose safe people to share your disease with, and sometimes in early sobriety we do not know who is safe yet...you are doing great young lady!

Valarie, thanks for the response, I thought I'd crack you up with the post about my daughter K, how 'bout it...she got a call at 12:11 in the middle of the night last night...I won't go into the dialogue we had but it ended with me saying a few minutes later...a call at that time is not acceptable, if it continues your phone service will be cancelled, this is the end of the conversation I am going back to sleep. Boy, if I was drunk and passed out I would've never heard that call...so glad I am aware today. I know the OC will go off this weekend just like it does up here in the South Bay....so watch out for all those on the road under the influence, remember they are amateurs ~ lol! Val, ooooooooh you're comin' up on a year, so exciting!
OMG VW Girl....I totally forgot about all the drunks on the road. Hell I was one of them and by the grace of something greater than myself I never hurt anyone! It just so happens that I an the Designated Driver for all of our friends. I have been for almost 10 months!!! Oh well...at least I only have to worry about other drivers and not myself! LOL....
Imagine if you were drunk but not passed out and answered to the phone. Don't know about you but I used to talk people's ear off on the phone. I would drunk dial everyone in my cell phone on Saturday night and then all the return phone calls would come on Sunday and I avoided everyone of them. Either because I couldn't remember calling them, had been beligerent (sp?) or told them a million times how much I loved them. (It could have been someone I hadn't talked to in 10 years but all of a sudden I loved them!) LMAO Those were the days... lol.....at least the fun ones. We all know the bulls*** days that came with the fun ones! You take care my Bay friend!!!!

Your Friend,
Valarie

I hope everybody stays safe over the celebrations and "enjoy".

Emily

Hey Val, If I was drunk and answered the phone when this kid called, I would've gave him a piece of my mind and probably threatened him! Drunk dialing was my thing too, I've shared with you guys that I tried to capture a summary of what I said to all those I called on post-it notes but rarely could make out the scribble - lol!
Em, Hey glad you are over here with us...you belong over her ~ lol! Have funny at the baby's birthday party...!
OMG Vw, the post it notes are sooo me. I used to think I was really funny when I was wasted! I would wake up with phone numbers and all kinds of weird s*** scribbled out! I forgot all about that! God I don't miss that. Sunday was always try and figure out what the hell I did the night before day! You have a great 4th my friend!

Good Morning Jayde, wish you were at the Round-up too, there are thousands of people attending...it was very crowded and a bit overwhelming last night...I met my sister and her friend there for opening ceremonies. Today, I plan to attend the Longtimer's meeting (some people have over 50 years of sobriety!)...and then go to the dinner/dance...oh and yes Scrabble poolside would be the order for the day if you were with me and my Sis....have a great Saturday Jayde (and everyone else too!)
