Hey I'm New Here

Hey all! I'm new here and really just enjoy reading all of your posts. They inspire me to keep doing what I know I need to do. I am addicted of hydrocodone as well as oxycodone. I am trying to taper off myself and so far is going well. It's hard, but I know that pills have consumed my life and am willing to do anything to get them out. I am down to taking 4 pills a day which is a huge difference from what I was taking. I have been an addict of other drugs such as coke but pills seem a lot more difficult to get away from. I wish all of you the best of luck.

Welcome Stacey,

You sound just like the rest of us. Good for you on the taper. When will you step off? Hang around and it will make it easier.

Welcome Stacey,

Good luck with your taper. Please keep posting and tell us about yourself. Some of the folks here saved my life. I hope we can be of service to you as well.

Cheers,

Welcome!

Thanks ya'll,

I don't know when I will taper off totally. I get the prescribed for legitimate reasons, I have major nerve damage in my lower back, really I am just shooting for taking my medicine as prescribed. However, these are something I do not want to stay on forever. I am only 22 and a mother of a 13 mo. old daughter. The pills have made my life fly by and it's hard to remember all the important moments that have happened this past year. I am just tired of being controlled by little pills. they're the devil.
My husband is also on the same pills, however he no longer has a reason to take them, but is addicted just as well. We do encourage each other a lot and this is the first time where we're both on the same page about quitting. I go to physical therapy and am making a concious effort to fix what needs to be fixed. I have been on these for over a year. I don't hardly even remember how it feels to be clean and that's what is so sad. I have battled depression for years and can tell that the pills do make it worse. Especially when I run out and then the withdrawl starts. I can't stand to not sleep and they make it very hard to stay asleep, especially around teh 2nd and 3rd day of being off.
I appreciate your kind words and look forward to talking with you all more in the future

Hi Stacey! Welcome!

I am happy to hear that you have made the decision to get drugs out of your life. I made that decision a few weeks ago and have been off of my DOC (which is oxycodone) for 3 1/2 weeks now. I feel like a new woman. Keep posting to and reading the board. It's always great to see new people here. This board has definatly helped my recovery. Take care, Atlas
Hey Stacey,
Welcome!
