Is anyone even here?
Hi Danny -
Its Marie - I'm here - just posted about having a CLEAN Christmas - I toughed it out with Motrin and got rid of the rest of the painkillers (ALOT OF THEM).
How was your Christmas? I'm just catching up on the posts, so I probably missed some. Hope it was GREAT!!!!

Marie- Certainly don't want to be a downer. Probably the worst I've had in my life.
Merry Xmas, Danny.
I don't know what is worse, your wife ragging or my daughter crying that she wants to go back to her mothers. She has NEVER done that. Her mother told her that she would be spending xmas night alone because her other daughter (through ANOTHER marriage) is with her father. Her mother is evil. It started with HER waking my daughter up to open presents at 5:00 am. My daughter got in the car with me late this afternoon and fell asleep in 10 seconds. When I got home the water works started. I calmed her down, sat and talked to her, and then we watched some TV before she could open presents. Mind you, she's eight. Most kids go right for the presents. We finally opened the presents and after, the water works started again. I was cool, assessed the situation, and took her back to her mothers....who was home with her soon to be 3rd husband. My daughter was surprised she wasn't alone, but it was too late for her to have a "change of heart". I'm gonna see her tomorrow. I'm sure she will be better after a good nights sleep. I had really been looking forward to this night though. I spent 3 hours wrapping her presents last night. One thousand lights inside the house...she is still a big Santa fan.
So, on top of a nasty protracted withdrawal from xanax (50 days today, also no oxy, percs), xmas is shot. I can suck it up though. I hope my daughter is happy. She told me she doesn't want mommy to get married again. She's fighting for her affection and I can't do squat. Her mother wants to move away after she gets married...again. That's another battle. I have seen my daughter 50% of the time since she has been born (8 years) and mom wants to pull this!!
Merry xmas! I know you are having a tough time now. The bad news is, it gets worse before getting better. It does get better. I did not initiate the divorce but I am much happier now.
I have been talking to Paul off line. He's a smart guy.
Take it easy and enjoy your kids.

Eddie and danny, I am soo sorry to hear that....
My son called me from another island, and his jackass dad didn't buy him anything...he got one gift from a neighbor..he is 13, but he is still a kid, ya know? I have presents for him here, but it just sucks to wake up on xmas with no presents...I knew I should have sent them to him, but he told me not to, and it was alot to send. He is coming next month, so he told me to wait until then. But he was sad....
Eddie, how much zanax were you on? I am just curious..I never had a problem with that, I used to take .5 a night, but I was wondering because after treatment I freaked out..I was on them to sleep for like 5 years, but I could take it or leave it...I was just wondering if the xanax may have played a part in the out of contol feelings after getting clean the first time. The treatment dr told me that would be serious....but I am just wondering...I felt like I couldn't control myself, especially with the rage...is that part of it? and I felt totally mentally overwhelmed....
I care about you guys, and I hope it gets better..
Danny, you should consider putting your wifes butt in some snow...outside the house...lol....

Hi, Danny
I'm sorry to hear about your Christmas. I'm here if you want to talk about it. You take care of yourself!
Love,
Susan

Danny and Eddie, sorry your Christmas wasn't the way you would have liked.... Hang in there...
Little Beach, that's tough with your son.... Thirteen is such a difficult age, where they want to be an adult but still have a lot of kid in them.... It's horrible he didn't have a bunch of gifts to wake up to, but you'll make it up when you see him....

Marie - That's so nice of you! I'll take it!
Kerry - I pretty much took the same amount of xanax that Danny did. 1mg x 4x a day for 7 years...4 percocets (10 mg each)....two oxycontin (40 mg each)...and a partridge in a pear tree. There is a little known phenomenom with Benzos that folks don't know about...protracted withdrawal (maybe I should switch over to the other site). This is due to lack of GABA and other chemicals in the brain that are specifically caused by Benzos. As a licensed pharmacist, I was never taught anything about this. I just abrubtly stopped everything because I'm an idiot. Imagine being totally drunk every day of your life and trying to work...etc. Then, take an air pump and hook it up to your ears, inflate until your head almost explodes, then plug it. Mix in being really foggy and having cognitive and motor skill issues and there you have it. Benzo protracted withdrawal. The majority of the data out there indicates this is not permanent. It just takes time. See if you can take something else for sleep. You should be ok. That's a very reasonable dose.
I would love to be on an island right now. Very sorry to hear about your ex. Kids don't deserve that. This is the reason I felt bad for my daughter. No child deserves to cry on xmas. That's why I vented last night. Today is a new day though. We are going to try it again this morning until tomorrow. Things will be back to normal.
Thanks to both of you.

Danny, what's up?
Danny, what's up?
Hi Danielle - Well, xmas part two is better. I had to get away for a minute. Mom and Dad, along with my daughter are downstairs...watching Dr. Doolittle (I feel like that). Everything's cool today as I suspected it would be. My daughter was very tired and cranky yesterday afternoon. Talk to ya later.
Eddie, do you still practice as a pharmacist? Just add a lexus and a few shots to that mix, and you will be a normal american...hahaha...
Way to go on your clean time. I HAD no idea how dangerous xanax was until I went to treatment.. When I got out of treatment, I was nuts..I think after reading what I have yadayadayada....I have learned that xanax is dangerous stuff...I was talking to a nurse practitioner one day at work, and he was stating (in a conversation...of course) that he gives xanax to patients to help them cope...I don't think this nurse had any idea what it is like to withdraw from this stuff...I got so angry..but of course, I couldn't say anything because I was at work and had to behave proffessionally. I think that any dr or nurse practioner that wants to hand out x should have to go through withdrawls themselves. I felt so totally mentally overwhelmed. I am an airhead anyway...hahahah...
I hope your xmas is better...I am off to swim today, Ihave no kids, so I am off to Big Beach..Danny, will send you a picture..

Hey Eddie, I'm here. Ya, I took Xanax for 7 years and quit it ct. The way I describe it to people is if you were born blind, lived 20 years that way and all of a sudden you could see. It's sensory overload when you quit those, thats for sure.
Hey Danny! Hope all is well.
Kerry - I have my license but never practiced. I received a job in the pharmaceutical industry that pays more than a pharmcist can make. Get this...I work in making sure drugs are made in a safe/effective manner!

Well, Eddie, keep up the good work... .LOL
What do you know about Ambien? I take 20mg every night for sleep and have been taking it for about 2 yrs.... I know it usually isn't recommended for more than 3-5 days, but my doctor has no problem prescribing it. I have insomnia so bad that I literally DON'T sleep without it.... Even before I started taking it, I couldn't sleep b/c of nightmares, sleep paralysis, or stress.... I either passed out or stayed awake...
I'm sure it's partly due to the fact that I work until 5am some nights, then work 9am-5pm on other days.... I do shift work, so my internal clock is screwed up....

Hi Danielle - Ambien is a sedative/hypnotic and it is prescribed for conditions like yours. If you are keeping difficult hours you may want to try something else. Exercise is the best thing for difficulty sleeping. For some reason I think you are in college? Are you expecting also? No sleeping meds should be prescribed for more than two - three weeks. Tolerance builds up.
Take care...!
Take care...!
Yes, I'm in school...... I'm 32 and went back to school two years ago, getting a degree in Marketing (will graduate in about a year).
Up until this past Thursday, I was working 3 jobs.... Resigned from one, the other one won't pick up again until Jan 30th, but will be working the night job a lot until school starts again.
No, I'm not expecting..... I have a 3 yr old and am considering more (don't have much time), but no bun in the oven yet! LOL
You're right about the exercise..... It didn't always help before, but my insomnia wasn't as bad when I worked out every day.....
Ambien works best if I take it for 2 days and then skip a day, but it's not often I do that..... If I don't sleep, I can't function, and that causes more problems than anything.... but I DO know that tolerance builds up and instead of sleeping soundly for 8 hours, now I usually wake up after 5....

Danielle - Since I stopped everything, sleep comes pretty easy now. The first 10 days it was tough, now I'm out in about 10 minutes. I have turned the clock away from me. I used to be a clock watcher. Try reading...don't watch TV in bed....try jogging 2 hours before sleep...
It sounds like you have a tough schedule. I couldn't imagine going back to school. I lasted 2 weeks going for my doctorate.

Eddie:
I have the sleep problem also. Thanks for the advice. If I don't sleep I am in a total fog. Ever since I quit using I don't sleep that well. I know exercise will help I just haven't had the energy lately but it is on my list. I work for a large pharma company also. Are you a Medical Science Liason? That's what most of the pharmacists that I know do. I am a rep but I bring in the MSL to talk about more clinical matters if the Doc requests it. Where do you live?
Rachel

I live in NJ and I have been the head of Quality for a number of companies. I don't use my schooling that much. College was a big joke. The only subject it taught was responsibility. I went to a very liberal college and it made me nuts. Protest this and protest that. Quite simply, if you don't like the U.S., get out! Alright, now I'm on a tangent.
See ya.
