Hi everyone, I hope you're all well.
I decided to come back a bit earlier than planned. I have my first meeting on Thursday, so I'm actually looking forward to it.
I took my dog to the church on Sunday for the evening service as the Minister knows he's good for me to have with me as he gives me a bit of confidence and people stop to talk to me if he's there, anyway there was an AA meeting going on at the same time and one bloke (who I've spoken to before) saw my boy and was really gone on him, he was so interested and gave me so many compliments about how he was groomed and how beautiful he looked. He said he was into rough collies and used to show them, so instantly I had something in common with this man, I also saw women in the meeting too. It looked really laid back. I must say I was intrigued...
I've been really thinking hard about things. I'm really serious about getting into the 12 day relapse prevention program but I have to wait til I see my new alcohol counsellor. I haven't met her yet... I've been talking a lot to my mum about things and she knows where I'm at in my head. I really feel like I'm making a lot of progress. I'm making decisions about my future now instead of just letting things ride. I'm not prepared to let myself get to the stage where my liver packs in and I lose my health, I want to live to have a life...
Anyway, thanks for listening, I welcome comments or advice.
Best Wishes,
Izzy
Izzy: Welcome back. It is so good to see you post again. WOW!WOW! I am so excited for you girl. I really am. You sound soooooo different. There is certainly some transformation going on with you and it is obvious. congratulations. I can't express how proud I am of you.! Way to go girl you show em what you got and what you are capable of. (((((( )))))) take care and give the little doggie a great big hug from me. xxxxxoooo :)
Thanks Pirate, I really appreciate and need your support!
I really feel as though something in my head and my heart is changing, I feel really confident about things, about getting off alcohol and really making the effort to get out there and change my life.
It's like I'm really starting to seriously think differently about alcohol and about how much I 'need' it. I think this is a turning point in my life. I felt so stuck at my last meeting with my alcohol counsellor, it was like I'd hit a brick wall and wasn't making anymore progress, then I realised it's me who's got to start this process to change myself. I'm ready.
I'm not even scared about meeting my new counsellor, even a year ago I would have been panicking like hell, but I feel relly calm and positive about meeting her now, a huge turnaround for me. My mum has been really supportive, I've told her everything about how I feel and what I'm planning to do. If I go on this residential course at the hospital (a special hospital just for people who use alcohol) she can come visit me and we can still talk on the phone. There, you have three classes a day and the rest of the time is yours to do what you want. My alcohol counsellor said that I don't need to be detoxed I can go in clean because I'm still able to do that. I'm not physically dependant.
I feel like a huge weight has been lifted off my shoulders. I've got a plan and loads of support. I need to do this even though I'm really scared inside... it's just nerves...
Feeling good... lol

Izzy my friend, so glad to hear that you are thinking of attending a meeting...you sound so positive...what a growth spurt you are experiencing! I just know that I have so much joy in my heart when you are doing well! Remember when you were helping me with my youngest daughter and the BP stuff....just wanted to let you know that she is doing pretty good...she's doing her thing and by reading your posts it has helped me change my attitude towards her....I realized I can't change her, just myself...I mean I finally got that! Finally, I moved into acceptance and am loving her unconditionally!
Hi Izzy sending you good luck wishes your way. Hope you are having a good day and learning positive things. We are all rootin for ya! Take care (((( )))))
Awww thanks guys, I really appreciate your support!
Geri, that made me smile so much to hear you are loving your daughter no matter what. I know only too well how much it hurts to be loved conditionally... you're a great mum! Good luck with everything!
Much love,
Izzy

Izzy,
How great it is to see you making positive decisions for your life. Getting to some type of recovery action is where the solutions can be found and then applied to daily living.
I'm so happy to read how much your advancing in your healing and recovery journey. Also that you are sharing so much with your Mom and she is being positive and supportive. You both deserve friendship in you relationship to.
You got it going now girl! Don't ever give up! You are worth it!
Love,
Chris xxx

That's a real boost to my motivation to hear so many people are supporting me.
You guys are all really great people. I'm going to be taking part in a survey to change how the health system here can help people specifically with BPD. I felt really enthusiastic about it when I was asked by my Psychologist whether I would like to take part. It's being done by a girl who is in her last year of her Psychology doctorate but the findings will be published and maybe change the way people like me are dealt with in the system. I for one had a god awful experience with GP's before I was diagnosed so I'm all for it. I don't want people to be treated the way I was, it just breaks you down mentally and emotionally.
I wouldn't have been able to do that a year ago, I feel like I'm making so much progress... one day at a time...
Thanks again, love you all!
