Hi Everyone!

Hi All,

I haven't been on the boards much lately. I found that I was really starting to think about alcohol alot more after always focusing on it. I realized later through going to many Christmas parties and being pissed off that this is where I needed to be. At least reading if not posting. So here I am being humble and coming back to the boards.

I do have a question for you all though. Did any of you find that when you quit one thing you picked up another addiction?? My story in short is I went through sex, drugs, gambling, drinking and lastly an eating disorder. I tell myself that I have nothing left to become addicted to so I should be okay. Yep I am the Queen of Denial! LOL I know that I am just a "Dry" addict now. I think for the new year I will make the resolution to get some professional help so that I can finally deal with the reasons I run to addiction to escape.

Anyway....enough of all that serious crap. Just was venting and getting it out!

Here's a little joke to lighten my post up.

"What do you call cheese that isn't yours?"

"NACHO CHEESE!"

I love that joke. Of course it was a children's joke but it makes me laugh.

Hi to VW, Zac, Love-Dove, Ginge, Gina, Idgie, Izzy, Rachel, and to anyone else I have forgotten!

P.S. Zac I read that post about the Reindeer droppings and hoof-prints you do for your kids. That is really cool!!!!!

Merry Christmas! :)

Valarie
Hello Val my freind!!!

Merry Xmas from Brisbane Australia!!!
Yes I replaced my drinking addiction with a bloody nicotine one, and chocolate!
Smoking has to stop as I am doing 2 packs a day, was easy to get up to this many driving long distances in USA, and with the things that were going on in my life(head) last few mths, that you picked up on!

I am going to be back in Canada late jan, I have a contract on my house already, took 1 week,
You have a great Xmas and Safe New Year, hope to meet in near future,
Your mate Ginge
Hey Val

Have a great Xmas
The reindeer have put hoof prints all over the lawn and there is sleigh marks on the lawn and reindeer poo everywhere so the kids will love it tomorrow and we always pick the reindeer poo up and put it on the garden they also eat all the carrots and drank the water ooohhh and one of our plants but my wife doesn't know that yet LOL

Light and love Zac
Hi Val...Merry Christmas!! I am with Ginge...addicted to chocolate and nicotine...oh and caffiene....and I have dealt with an eating disorder...they say addictive personalities do tend to substitute one addiction for another...
You aren't alone Val....Glad to see you posting...missed you...Love Gina
Hi Val!

Merry Christmas to you, as well. I hear you on the cross addictions. Nothing works anymore. I even get addicted to exercise. I have that All or nothing personality...no middle ground. My general MO is to run everything into the ground and then when it gets too painful, I take action and do some footwork. For me, it all goes back to I am the problem and substances were my solution. I had to find new tools. I had to have a spiritual transformation in order for me to get comfortable in my own skin. Sometimes it's fleeting but at least today I have a solution.

Happy Holidays,

~Rachel
Thanks Ginge, Zac, Rach and Gina,

Merry Christmas to all of you. Zac you and your wife really do it up for your kids and that is just awesome.

Well for the new year I am really gonna make an effort to do some work on me so I am not this sober addict that is like a ticking time bomb. I always feel like the wheels are ready to fall off at any time.

I'm so glad this board is here. I take breaks from it from time to time but I was really happy to have it and all of you here when I needed the help.

Everyone have a safe and sober Holiday (whatever you may celebrate) with your family and friends.

Love, Valarie
Hi there Valarie,
Glad to see you are back, I understand where you are coming from, sometimes we just have to step back a bit and not focus so much on our addiction or that of others. I've been threw alot of the cross adddictions you talked about, I guess it's just the way we are programmed, but we can always change the channel!! :) I've been struggling with the drinking thing relapsed, and felt so crappy about it, I'm trying to stay strong, and just understand that this too shall pass..

Wishing you a peaceful Christmas my friend,

LD
