Horrible Question

Now that I have had some experience with my son (an addict) and talked to my son in law (a police officer) the question comes up:
HAS ANYONE EVER GOTTEN OFF METH?

Is there any hope at all really?
I have not done Meth but felt compelled to tell you what I do know. Your brain does change permanently...Good news? You can quit. Does he want to?? I can feel your hurt.
i dont know about quitting but i am 309 days clean and while i have no plans for use i can never say never i can just take it one day at a time
I hope with all my heart too that people to get free of this evil drug. Look at deebee....he's going to beat it. 309 days clean....that is living proof.
Cyberkatru,

You asked, Does anyone ever get off meth ....

The answer is YES

I am a recovering addict, but not solely a meth addict. I was a multipule drug user ... I used all kinds of drugs from pot, to pills, to powder and liquid ..

I am my home message board is a Anti Meth Board I post there all the time ... There are addicts that come there and post, recovering addicts as well as those who have loved ones that are addicts ... If you would like to come and post your question over there ... I am sure you will find that many meth addicts can and do recover. We have to hit rock bottom first ... and some of us hit with a shovel in our hand and dig ourselves down a little further ... no one can predict where rock bottom will be, but believe me if the addict keeps using they will arrive there one way or another ... be it in prison, insane assylm ... and unfortunately some hit with an impact that leaves them dead ...

Here is the link to the other Meth Board ... Drop by if you'd like and post your question there ... Read the success stories and how they did it ... and you'll see that it is very possible to recovery and live a normal life after meth.

Forgive me for double posting I tried to use my browser back to edit my post after I had posted the first one, but then it only caused it to submit twice instead of editing my orginal post ...

Sorry about that :/

The only thing i can tell you is that my husband is19 months clean from meth and getting stronger every day.Even the hard days!!!!
Your son has to want to quit and commit to doing what ever it takes.
And relize he is not better in a year or 2 years or even five. He will have to fight for him self every day.

i've been clean off meth for 76 days today...there is hope...i've come to find that relapse is a part of recovery....some folks tend to relapse a lot, while others - once they've gotten cleaned - have stayed that way for years...it all depends on the person and the type of strength and fortitude they have within themselves...of course, outside support of groups like NA or lifering are wonderful and help give feedback in every day situations that sometimes will trigger the urge to use...
i hope this helps...
Greetings...
My brother has and had quite a time with meth addiction. He stole my prescribed medications, my rent money and so on. The last time I saw him, was after he had stole my prescription meds for the last time. He broke lease, and I have not seen him since. My mother tells me that he's okay, but he lied to me, so why wouldn't he lie to his own mother, when he stolen from her, as well. Yes, I think it is possible to break Meth addiction-one of my co-worker's confided in me that she used to use Meth, but broke the cycle of addiction. Hope this helps. Good luck.
