How It All Started

I was having terrible stomache spasms without any warnings. The pain would paralyze me...We all knew it was stress. Then came xxanax and now anti-depressants.
I try to take 1/2 of lorcet , never a whole unless I am suffering bad. ! 1 ml xxanax 3 times a day and one anti depressant.

I woke up weary and not myself . I wanted my motivation back and decided to stop. I think that was the worse day of my life . My heart was racing . I would snap at any one in my path. I felt sick and anxious all day , I thought I would never make it...I didn't. I called the Dr. for an appt. for more drugs.

This is scary, I feel I have no choice because that day I would never want again. I reduce the dose and nothing helps as it does not have the affect I need . I would do anything to quit if I knew I could avoid withdrawal.

I am stuck....can you help?
Xanax is something you shouldn't just stop. You need to be honest with your doc and let him help you taper off of the meds. Benzos are so different from narcotics...you can have siezures and even death is you come off of them too fast. Don't screw around with it. Have you been taking the lorcet for long? And only 1/2 a day? Doesn't sound like that's your addiction..the xanax does.

Really glad you reached out. Please don't do this alone.

Keep posting, it really does help.

Are you out there?
Are you working with your doctor in getting you off of the pills? Or are you trying to do this alone?

A slow, slow taper is the best way to get off the xanax. There are many people on here who have been through what you are going through and can offer you advice on this and you can also go to the section "other prescription drugs" to get help..... This is not something you should do alone, but if you do, be sure you are educated and informed on how to do this safely.

There's no way to really taper off of 1/2 lortab, but I don't think that is what is causing the problems.... Stopping that cold turkey will not be dangerous and should not cause many withdrawal symptoms; it's the xanax that you need to talk to your doctor about.

Good luck.
