Human Kindness

I took my cat (again) to the vet today...she has been ill off and on. With my BF having surgery Thursday and no income for awhile I was pretty stressed about the cost as wellas the kitty. My vet is a great guy...sweet, caring,...an exceptional human being. Also a great sense of humor. She needed an x-ray and a shot of anti-inflammatory medicine as her intestines were inflamed and blocked. Poor kitty cries whenever she visits the catbox. So he gave me a big bag of hairball food and some advice for her bowel troubles. We chatted and I told him about Tony's surgery. He commented on how I was not using my cane and some health related stuff. I get ready to go and the receptionist has not received the paperwork for the visit. My vet comes out and says "Don't worry about it...no charge for today". I couldn't believe it. The bill must have been pretty high with the x-ray and all...wow...what a wonderful thing to do ...I am so broke this month and one less bill is more than helpful. Hence, the power of simple human kindness. Imagine what the world would be like if everyone did at least one nice thing for a total stranger each day....Hmmmmmmmmm...Sharonn
thats a great story sharonn, something like that happened to my mom who is 78. She was so stressed out becuz her cat was ill and the vet really gave her a huge break. she recently lost the cat and they treated her like a queen, very compassionate. I have been following your threads and am praying for you.

Much love

Beautiful ~ simply beautiful ~ and such an endorsement for my spirit to come here and read of the magnificient Power of Love is alive and well...present in all mankind, Sharonn if we allow it. My heart thanks you for sharing this.

I know I've written this before; however, would like to share it again, so please bear with me if you have read this before. I feel it's worthy of repeat.

To love people is not philanthropy itself. Philanthropy is love going into action. Suppose that Jesus Christ had come to the earth to have his experience, and merely reported to us that God is love, merely reported that God loves you. That was all, just the report. There was no involvement. You were limited to just the idea that God loved you.

It was not a love that was responsible to you and you could never connect with it. It was not going to dry your tears and be uplifting to you. It would not direct you, or guide you, or put your feet upon the path. It would not guide you along the way. It was just a love that loved you from a distance and "kind of waved its hand." That's all you got, a wave of the hand. What kind of love would that be?

This prayer is for you, sweet Sharonn, and all who may presently be going through some difficulties in their lives.

Dear God,

Thank You for loving us enough to be involved with us. No matter what our current experience is You are with us, waiting for an invitation.

We invite You to come into our hearts and minds in a larger way than before. Lead us, we are willing to follow the path of Love.

Amen

Hi,

Sharonn how are you' i am doing very good you have always been very sweet and amoung the angels that were here to support me when i needed it' and you are still here for so many others bless your heart you deserve all the best' i am so glad there are still people in this world like that vet who took care of your dear cat god bless him it great to know there are those who are not just in there profession for the money and still remember why they went into there profession in the first place because they cared about helping to ease and cure pain and suffering not cause them more, after reading your post i hope you do not mind i wanted to share with you what my sister went through with one so called vet my sister had found this kitten she heard it crying it had been thrown in a garbage container my sister was only 16 years old at that time she named her cindy my sister married when she was 26 and they could not have children so cindy was like there child my sister who is now 38, and there cat cindy reached the age of almost 20 years old' i think cindy was blessed with nine lives she was like a daughter to my sister even her hubby had gotten very attached to there cat and poor cindy made it through so much she had cancer twice wich the vet removed and she even had cancer in her eye so my sister thought as hard as it was that it would be what the vet would suggest to put her to sleep but the vet said no he would just operate and removed her eye so her nick name became winkie after awhile you could not even tell she was missing it' it just looked liked she was winking and at that time cindy was 11 years old anyway the surgery was to cost $400 they could not aford that at that time but this vet had a heart of gold and knew cindy had alot of good years left in her and what she ment to my sister so he only charge her $100 and let them pay it off in payments, but after afew years the cancer had returned in cindy and my sister and her hubby had moved so cindy saw a differnt vet and he told her that cindy would have to be put down and my sister knew and understood that but this new vet was so heartless such an A** my sister asked if she could stay with cindy and hold her? this so called vet said why bother do you think that old cat will notice why waste your time he told her and then he said after we put it down we will dispose of it in the furnace i mean what kind of vet would tell a pets owner something like that and so blunt my sister insisted they give cindy something for her pain and they took her home and my sister held her in her arms and cindy passed away peacfullyand they had found out afew others had complained about this vet along with my sister she had not known he was being investagated at that time and eventualy he was shut down for crulty to animals they found out that half of the time this vet did not wait untill the pets were fully under before operating he would strap them down if they were not complettly under when he operated anyway sharonn i am glad your cat is ok and again i hope you did not mind me putting my 2 cents in here please take care.

Thanks guys...that kitty has slept in the same spot(crook of my arm or my "wing" for 10 years. If she were gone I would miss that purring and soft belly fur the most. She has seen me through some bad times and I would go the distance to help her have a happy life...Love, Sharonn
