I am 29yrs old and I have 112 days of pure recovery. I live in Vancouver, WA. I reside in an Oxford House. This is a non-profit clean and sober shared house. I have only lived here for a couple of months. I have lots of support here but, my financial help ended the last day of October. I am behind in my rent and as of the first of December I will owe 2mos of rent. My rent is $335per mo. utilities included. I don't want to be homeless again. I am trying to get my 2 daughters back as I gave them to their father when I started loosing grip of controlled drug use. I have not been with them in 2yrs. I miss being their mommy. I also suffer from mental disorders due to my drug use, as well as PTSD. I have been working diligently on my recovery. I have come to a road block. I do not feel well enough to work but, I have applied for a Pell Grant to go to college so I can better my opportunity for a quality career so I can support myself and my children. The only problem is my grant does not go into effect until January and I received an eviction notice on 11/19/03. Christmas is coming and I have not been able to give my children gifts for almost 3yrs. I would like to be in a home when Christmas comes around so that maybe their father would let me have them over at least. Does anyone have any ideas or resources for me to get rental assistance soon? Thank you for taking the time to read this and I would be greatful for any ideas or help. For now I say the serenity prayer about 30 times a day and attend meetings at least 2times per day. Happy Holidays and God Bless.
my mother actually works for DHS. she says she lovers her job because her resopnsablities include giving away money to those who need it. she does "emergancy assistance". im not exactly sure how you go about it but i know that she gives people who are last on rent or short on rent money to get by. im not sure of requirements or timing but you may want to look in to it....(id ask her but we're not really on best of terms right now)....
best of luck, hope it helps.
