I have had spine surgery twice and was given norco and soma. I take norco 7.5 . I take 2 with a soma 4 times a day. I feel no pain relief anymore. I feel no buzz. All I feel is a strong desire to fall asleep and I have taken this dose now for 3 years. I have never felt this desire to fall asleep before. Something weird has changed in the way these pills make me feel. I get my meds from my doc so I do not understand what is happening. I want to stop but I cannot for some reason. Is there a self help book on getting off these pills?

Soma builds up in your liver, and turns into another form, which in large doses can kill you....
i dont mean to scare you but the liver can only rid itsef of so much soma before it just quits...
One of my best friends died from a Soma overdose....
please be careful and go see a Dr...

If you're still in pain, other muscle relaxents are not a sedating as soma. I took them as sleeping pills for years. Are you still having pain? Maybe if you did'nt that the meds together, they would'nt be as sedating. If you have no pain anymore, and you never took them for the buzz, I doubt you'll have a problem BUT, you should ask your doc.
He should be able to tritrae you done without too much trouble. Good luck!

My friend abused them...i dont know how many shed take to be honest..but when she stopped using she wouldnt taper..shed just stop...so personally i have no idea if youd have to taper after being on them that long...definately check with your Dr...
Can you get a 2nd opinion about needing to stay on them that long and taking that many a day?
The thing that worries me is the fact that you say they are now suddenly making you sleepy....

I would run not walk to the Dr and or get a 2nd opinion about that..i really would..
They took Soma off the shelves here in Canada...in fact she was getting her Soma from the States at the end, cus she couldnt get it in Canada anymore...
C;lass action Lawsuits have been filed ( wrongful death ) and personally i think its a matter of time before Soma is taken off..its abused so often and killed so many that had no idea that it was so deadly....
please get a 2nd opinion soon..

P.S. The Coroner ruled that there were toxic levels of Soma in her liver, but not from just that one time use...from a buildup that her liver just couldnt get rid of anymore...so her organs shuit down, her heart slowed till it stopped...she was very young...and i miss her still this day..

ali, you have just scared the liven ---- out of me. is there a self help book that teaches us how to get off pain pills and what to expect? thankyou for what you just told me. My God Ali, I have 4 kids and a beautiful life except for this pill problem and so I need to stop but need to know how to do it right.

Im goin to look up a link about Soma i saw here before...there have been others here that actually got addicted to Soma and got off of them....so you may want to go down to the bottom and move to topic starter..ascending or descending order ( s is in the middle ) and see what has been postd about soma before...
Nothings going to happen tonight or anything so dont really get freaked out, but you coming here and me being here tonight may be a whisper from God to make you at least look into the possibility that you need some medical intervention soon...

I just reread your post.
Are they norco 7.5/750? And you have been taking 8 of those a day for the past 3 years? What is the pain from? Are you taking exactly as your doctor prescribed? Are you on any other medications? Have you changed your diet, dosage, anything recently? Have they done any blood tests recently?
Can you get an appointment with a different doctor and tell them what has been going on and what medications you are taking? I think that's definitely step 1 right now.
And if you are going to go off of these medications, you are not going to be able to stop without slowly cutting down without some serious consequences. If I were you, and you really want to stop, I would think about doing it under professional supervision, but that's just me.
I would, however, get to the doctor (and possibly a different one) right away and let them know what's been going on, and make sure they do some labs (blood count, metabolic panel, liver function tests, etc).

I went ct off 20 plus norcos a day. It was a trainwreck but i survived. Talk to a dr about the somas, but you can certainly detox off 8 norcos a day

Soma is indicated as a skeletal muscle relaxant. It's being abused recreationally among the late teen/20 something group. It's actually pretty controversial... Most people just prescribe flexeril and go from there (flexeril makes me drool. ugh i hate that crap).
But yeah, that's what Soma is for. Technically.
