I was clean for 11 days and the withdrawals pretty much gone to the point that I could handle it. Long story short, I wound up with an infection and had to go to the doctor. I told him about my addiction and he told me that if I took these as perscribed that I would be fine. Within about 2 hours of taking the fisr one (lortab 7.5) I started feeling withdrawal symptoms. I tried to stop taking them all together but now I am back to full fledged withdrawals. I can't be at work like this.
How long will these last? Will it last as long as it did last time? Should I try and taper down? What should I do? I had this beat and now I am right back to were I was. I NEED HELP!!!!!
Did you only take one? Do you really really really need them if not get rid of them. It is amazing the threshold for pain that we have but when a doctor tells you it is ok to take them as directed I just don't get it. Did you tell him you just quit? Their are other non narcotic pain relievers he should have offered. As I have said before Lortab is overly prescribed. I would stop them and take advil or ibuprophen. Is the pain unmanageable?? Call the doctor and ask for something non narcotic. and ask yourself what your inner self is saying don't rationalize taking those pills because the doctor said you could.

Thanks for the reply. To be honest I don't feel the pain. I fell the withdrawals. How long are they gonna last? Is it gonna be as hard as last time? I had to take one this morning so I could go to work. Is tapering down even an option?
How many did you take total? Next time a doctor offers you a narcotic it would be a good idea to tell them no. What are your plans to learn to live without pills? Are you going to counseling or a 12 step program?
How many have you taken? I don't see how to taper down from 1 or 2 lortab 7.5...I was never in this situation, cos any time I picked back up after detoxing, I went right back on the pills. The only thing you can do is just stop NOW. Take a day off work, tell them you're sick. It isn't a lie. My guess is that if you've only been taking these for a day or two, that the worst will be over in a day or two, but that is just a guess.
If you keep at what you're doing, you're going to be right back where you were, I have no doubt about that. That is how these pills are. The only thing to do is just STOP.

Hi Buckle Im sorry your feeling so crappy.Tapering can be done but its really hard(I feel)I myself even having someone else hold the pills would still "cheat & take more"
I must agree with Roxy though.I would try to get something non narcotic or OTC even.Theres a list of OTC stuff posted here on the board that helps with WD so Im going to go find that & bump it up for you.Alot of people have found that things on this list can help alot.Try to hold on....

How much have you taken? If you have only taken a few, you can't taper. Every pill will both temporarily relieve and prolong your withdrawal symptoms. If the only pain you are feeling is the pain of withdrawal, toss them now. That would be the fastest way to get it over with. I wouldn't think a few pills would cause your withdrawal to be as drawn out as it was. The fewer you take the better off you will be.
I wound up taking 3 yesterday and one this morning. But 11 days earlier I was taking 15 - 20 a day. I was head-over-heals addicted to lortabs. I beat it to. Went 11 days and had no withdrawals. I took 1 and I mean 1 and my body went crazy. If tapering is an option, I can do it because it is in my head to stop I just want to make sure it can be done. Thanks for all your help. I just don't want to go through 7 - 8 more days like I did last time just for a few pills.
So you have only taken a few, correct??
If so, then I would highly suggest tossing them NOW .... no need to taper as that would just make it worse for you.
By stopping now you will feel better much quicker than if you were to continue even at a low dose.
Did you tell your Dr that you had quit just 11 days prior???
As Kat asked, what are you doing for your recovery??
Meetings, therapy, etc??
Quitting the pills is easy compared to STAYING clean!!!
Good luck to you .....
Yes, I have only taken a few. I can't miss any moer work though. I missed a week the first go round. I don't want to take them, I just can't be at work like this. I hope this feeling is over soon, I know I did it to myself.
I went cold turkey. No therapy or meetings or anything like that. So you think this will only last a little while I can live with that. Thanks for all your help

if you were taking 15-20 and went 11 days WITH NO WITHDRAWS....
you were very lucky...........to have no withdraws
and now you take one and your having withdraws?
not quite understanding that.........
but the solution is very simple.......
never pick them back up.......
throw them out.......
never except a Rx from the doctor.........they dont care
God Bless you........
i believe that you know exackly what to do..........
why would you relapse for a few days and then do a TAPER program...?
not good .
just throw the pills out.........
God Bless you........

Hey Thumper,
I think he/she was saying that after 11 days the withdrawals were finally becoming bearable, and that one pill screwed all that up and that the WD was back again. Your advice is right on though, IMO.

I'm good. I just posted to you on your prayer thread.
Atlas is right, I went 11 days and the withdrawals we completely gone, then one pill and BAM!!!!! So far I am hanging in there. I am going to throw them out and not take any more. As hard as it is to be sober sometimes, it's even worse going through withdrawals. I hate myself for taking them and I am right back where I was 11 days ago. DUMB me!!!!! I hope the withdrawals go away because this is killing me and I am sitting her waiting on the "I can't take it any more part of the withdrawals".
