Afternoon All,
Well the hubby just called.....no he is not using.........just left the addiction doctors office. The doctor said that he could try short term treatment on sub. I think 30 days total start to finish. He can start tomorrow if he wants. So I am looking for any input you guys have. PAIN......is his major concern! Thats why he used again after 3 weeks clean......the pain. Neon I know pain is the issue for you....hope you see this today. I know what sub does for the withdrawl and drug blocking part....but does anyone know how it will play into the pain?
Whatever you got guys....good or bad.......for or against.......send it my way. I am about ready to pull out my hair here. I am hoping this gives him a running start away from the drugs.......Other things are coming up in the next few weeks that will help address his pain issues....epidurals, and hopefully acupuncture....

When I was doing all my research on the Suboxone/Subutex for my boyfriend, I found out that it was originally used for pain and it was not until later that they found it was good for recoverying opiate addicts.
It is addictive; however, it does have a ceiling effect and it does not give you a "high". The less that is in your system apparently, the better you will feel so it's not the type of drug where he will start taking more and more and more.
That's some of the things I found out.

Just think of it this way if you keep bailing him out of these situations, how will he ever learn how to do it on his own? i hope that i dont sound like a b****, but tough love works, atleast for me it did and still does, please hang in there and worry about yourself, you must be number 1, not him or anyone else, let him fend for himself, or else he will never, ever, learn! please keep this in your heart and mind, your friend jasmine!

Mickey is right in saying it is good for pain as a nurse I administer it. When it is given for pain it is given at much lower doses maybe 0.4mg and goes by the name Temgesic, you could try looking that up. Mine was prescribed for pain as much as opiate abuse. My pain Dr and Addictions Dr got together I can up with this as a plan. It deals with my self medicating issues....kind of 2 birds with one stone. I do get some pain relief from it. However I have noticed that it usualy gives maybe 5 hours relief from dosing. It has a long half life but maybe that refers to satisfying the opiate receptors. I am supposed to take my 16mg sub once a day and doing that takes any withdrawal or craving away. But I find I get better pain control taking 8mg twice a day. Some here in the UK take 32mg every 3 days and get good results for there addiction problems but I imagine not too good for pain

not to jump in and get on anyone's bad side or nothing but i think you are the greatest the way you help ba. i think you are doing it right to help him. speaking from a man' perspective, if he loses your support then what does he have to quit using for except himself, and afterall when we use we don't think that much of ourselves anyway. if that makes any sense. please don't stop what you are doing. i know it gets disheartening sometimes but hang in there keep up the good work. it will pay off soon. tell ba to keep up the pace he will have this thing beat before he knows it. tell him to type to me tonight, and that i am praying for him.. what i have heard about the sub treatment it may be worth a shot. type in methadone withdrawel into your search and go to the narconon sight they give a # to call for advice on holistic treatments. i haven't called yet but i will. i want to see what this is about. i am a very big fan of natural remedies. i have hep c and the dr wanted me to use medication that would almost kill me. i searched and got on natural stuff, such as colloidal silver and milk thistle and now my liver functions are completely normal so that sold me on the natural things, now i take my vitamins and minerals faithfully. i contribute that to me being able to decrease my methadone so much so fast

Thanks for that one Neon......I took french in highschool.....4 years can't speak to well but can read it much better......it is worth a try. The kids also have a translator on the computer to help them with Spanish homework....(yeah they are cheating) they use it when the have projects. I can use that to help start a search!
