Hi, I am trying to find a way to help a friend get off methadone, except she has NO insurance, what can I do. She has finally passed the denial that she wasn't addicted. Some I am at a loss as to what to do, please help? ?
AA and NA are free. This would be a good start.
I am not sure if getting off methadone causes a detox. If this is true, it might be worth looking for a low-cost detox center. In my area there is a center that takes in people with no insurance.
Regardless, getting involved in AA or NA is important. Go to meetings, get a sponsor, work the steps, read the literature, perform service work, share the good news with others - and "rinse and repeat".
