Increased Water Intake Eases Withdrawal??

Hi Everyone,

Not too long ago I had a bad relapse. On the day I ran out of meds I prepared for inevitable withdrawals that would surely follow. I am not sure why, but I did not have even one symptom of withdrawal (and this is a first for me). No diarrhea, no sweats or chills, no leg cramps, etc.

At the time, I was taking antibiotics for a sinus infection. Because I had no sense of smell I wasn't eating any food, but had been drinking tons of water...as the Sudafed I was taking made me very dry - almost a gallon a day.....

I am not sure if the excess water helped to flush my system but I just wanted to share this in hopes that perhaps it could help someone else cope with the symptoms of withdrawal and to ask if anyone else had ever experienced this.

Hugs,
Kelly

What drug were you detoxing from?
Percs 5/325 (30 a day for 7 days) followed by Norco 10/325, 30 a day for about a week.
How long were you clean before you relapsed?

I think the water helped, but I think it had more to do with the fact that your binge did not last that long. I know that my withdrawals were A LOT easier when I had been using a month or so (even though I was taking 20 Norco a day), than it was when I had been using for 2 years (at 12 a day).

When I relapsed for a month and then tried to quit, I didn't experience any withdrawal symptoms (but I could not STAY clean).

I'm glad to see you're giving it a try again.

im glad ur wds havent surfaced. i do remember a dr tellin me one time to eat a lot & drink a lot (water, etc)

By the way, did anyry that tea that wasposted about.
Drinking water helps almost everything, think about it, aparently our bodies use up about 4 pints of water a day through weeing sweating ect, so if we dont replace it we become dehidrated, things like coffie also dehidrate ya, so nearly everyone is dehidrated. I started to drink a lot of water about 2 yrs ago, and i do feel so much better for it, i try to drink about 4 pints a day (i learned it from this natural nutrition course). Also if i get a headache before taking any pain killers i'll always drink some water and leave it for a bit, and honest sometimes just drinking the water shifts the headache!!!!.............Just thought i'd share what i learned xxx
