Insomnia

I have been free of opiates for 90+ days and find it very difficult to sleep at night. It is very hard to fall asleep and even if I do I can't stay asleep. My doctor will not prescribe me a sleeping pill, over the counters don't work. I am at my wits end. Any suggestions? I never had a problem with sleeping pills or tranquilizers but I understand Dr's reluctance. On the other hand I need help. Thanks for any suggestions.
HAVE YOU TRIED BENEDRYL,,,,,,,,,,TAKE 3 INSTEAD OF 2

OR ASK FOR SOME OF THE NEW AMBIEN CR TO USE FOR A SHORT PERIOD OF TIME. IT IS EXPENSIVE SO GET READY......

ALSO, TRY WARM MILK............
Pam, I have tried just 2 benedryl. No go. I haven't asked Dr. for Ambien, my counselor suggested Lunesta and Doc said no. Puts me in an awkward position. I feel like because I manipulated Dr. for opiates he will deny me a sleep aid. No sleep makes me real stressed and ugly and makes the struggle to stay clean that much harder. Do I want to have to take a pill for sleep, hell no! Would I take a pill so I could sleep? Hell yes! Warm milk? Yech, but I will try it lol. Thank you for your advice...
Sweetie, Lunesta did not ever do a thing for me but the Ambien CR knocked me out cold. Okay, try to drink the warm milk, I know it sucks, but going without sleep sucks more so. Instead of taking two benedryl, try three. I promise they won't kill you. Do you have any d/t medications like clonidine?
Hey Pam, no d/t meds. I will try benedryl and a new Dr. :) I was on seraquel for a while and took myself off due to side effects. A new sleepaid out called rozerem was prescribed. Non-addicting, effects melatonin. Still taking it but to no avail. Sooooo....guess if the benedry doesn't work I will try the warm milk. P.S. the Doc I see is a G.P. and inexperienced with drug addiction.
Sleeping pills are a big NO nO--My insomnia was cured by serequel,. Comes with a price--talk to doctor.

I read over and over people being doctors take benadryl 3 not 2. OTC Medscan kill.

Many years ago my grandma took one to many benadryl almost died.

Assuming you havea doctor you trust discussthe problem with him or her.

Good luck--Jeff
Jeff, are you grumpy today? I hope not..............lol

Guess the Submobile was running late today, huh............lol
No Pam Not Grumpy.

I just post my experience.

People die all the time from OTC. Nobody taking meds IMO should do so without an M.D supervision.

I remember around 5 yrs ago My dad before he got sick was taking a lot of vitamins. Turns out something he was taking mixed with an antibiotic or something and he got really sick.

I used to be my own doctor for many Years and caused myself many problems.

Today I discuss my options with my doctor's and have continued to get healthier even though I fight multiple chronic diseases.

Just giving my opinion.

Have a good night --Jeff
Jeff, I didn't mean to offend you hun. I was just giving her a suggestion........... No hard feelings. I do love you, even if you did arrest me.........lol

Hey Jeff, I'm clean today...........NO PILLS...........wooooooo hooooooooo
Thank you both for your suggestions. I am continuing to try all solutions available to me that have the least amount of side effects i.e., warm milk, exercise (which I am very limited) strict bedtime routines etc, but I am getting very frustrated. I know I am an addict and have kept myself in check as far as asking for anything that may be habit forming. I'll just keep on keepin on the right road and hope that soon I can reap all the benefits. Thanks again. Jan
