Insurance Coverage

My daughter is 22 yrs old & addicted to heroin. She is covered under my health ins. plan. Within the past 5 months she has been thru detox twice, once at a treatment center & once in a hospital. Both times despite attempts by doctors to get her approved for inpatient drug rehab my ins. carrier has refused to cover inpatient rehab & will only approve outpatient care. She has failed outpatient both times & is now using again. If my daughter does not get long term inpatient rehab she is going to die & we do not have thousands of $$ to pay for her treatment. What do we do? Do these ins. companies realize that they are playing with people's lives or don't they care? Does anyone have any advice on how to deal with the beauracratic nightmare of dealing with an ins. carrier that doesn't care whether my daughter dies or not?
Turned Down, In trying to get treatment for my son we struggled many times with the insurance companies. What you are quickly coming to learn is they are more into managing and retaining their money then they are in spending it.I don't know what insurance company you have but most insurance companies have to give 30 days inpatient rehab per calender year. Also you need a doctor who is aggressive in obtaining the inpatient treatment and you to must be agressive. Not only is she a herion addict but she is a danger to herself...I wouldn't take no for an answer and believe me you have to have some fight in you. Which you should cause your fighting for your daughters life....also look into having her baker acted that will give you 3 days where they must keep her and in those 3 days you work like a fiend to keep her there....remember the prize your fighting for.
What state are you in?

Many states have low cost and donation only rehabs.

Try salvation army adult rehabilitation center. It is a very intense rehab program, but I've seen many lives changed through it. It is a 6 month- 1 year program. Also it doesn't cost a penny, just commitment.
