Not sure how many here have watched the T.V. program called Intervention but I find it (am not an addict) fascinating.
Although the addiction stories I'm sure are true, it seems like almost everyone (according to the show) that goes thru an intervention becomes a success story.
Does anyone have some stats on just how successful interventions are as well as the success rate of those who complete rehab?
Any thoughts on how accurate this show really is in the way they portray the stories/interventions etc?
Thanks,
Rich
Any thoughts on just how successful interventions really are? Seems like in the show about 80% are but I have my doubts.
All I know is that when we found out my son was on drugs we looked into calling an interventionist... He wanted over a thousand dollars to come to the house and there were no guarantee's.
We did have an intervention for my son though without a professional interventionist. It was a last minute thing. I called all his brothers and we sat him down, told him we loved him and that he needed help, said everything that we needed to say and he agreed to get help. After that he went to a doctor and was put on suboxone.
But then one dirty doctor later who's now in jail for writing fake oxy scripts, and dealing drugs out of his house, and he put my son back on oxy. So, we're right back where we started. It was nice while it lasted. I actually had my son back.
I think the bottom line is it's up to the addict. If he really wants to stay clean, he will. Obviously, my son didn't.

I love this show. I have seen every episode...and I have seen obviously more success stories than not...but I have seen them show the failed ones...I'm always shocked.
But, with the failed ones....many of them....come back and ask for treatment.
AND...I changed my cable service and DONT GET THE CHANNEL....I just figured this out yesterday...So sad :(
