Is Codeine Ok To Take If You Are Addicted To Opiat

12 years ago my husband was addicted to snorting heroine and he got himself clean... on and off through the years he has been taking t3s with codeine but in large amounts, say 6 to 8 at a time... About 4 years ago he stopped all together taking those... He hot a back injury about 1.5 years ago and started with pain meds again and eventually I found out he was snorting percocets and he sais he is clean and went through the withdrawals... I did a drug test on him because I found robaxicets with codeine in his vehicle , the drug test tested positive for opiates and he admitted to the robaxicets and t1s with codeine.. So can someone please tell me if you have been addicted to percs, heroine and t3s are you okay to take other pills containing codeine?
To STRENGTH is all ive got,
Codeine is opiate so I think that's 1 answer for you.. Nothing worse than a addicted lover im so sorry, best of luck rory..
Hi Strength,

Codeine is an Opiate. It breaks down into Morphine...

It is strictly my opinion as an experienced addict ONLY, not as a medical professional that if he is truly taking the pills for pain relief, he shouldn't be snorting them. They are prescribed or instructed to be taken orally. I haven't had to face this situation again since getting clean almost 2 years ago, but things happen. Recovering addicts get hurt, need surgery, get cancer, etc... Anyone who has ever struggled with opiate addiction dreads this, because of the risks associated with the potential for relapse. And it's important to clarify that many people put precautions in place so that they get the pain relief they need, but they don't lapse back into "old addictive behaviors."

Old addictive behaviors could be, but are not limited to: Snorting or cooking a pill down to shoot it up - this gets the opiate in the blood stream faster and is totally addict behavior. You snort and shoot street drugs, it reminds the addict of the days of heroin. Taking 6-8 pills at a time orally, when the instructions clearly say 1-2 pills by mouth, every 4-6 hours as prescribed. We are not doctors. If the pain is SO bad that 3 times the prescribed dose is needed to relieve pain, we should be in the emergency room. Hiding it - if I'm telling the truth, I have nothing to hide. My spouse knows my history and is here to help me. If I were truly ill and had been instructed to take prescribed opiates, he would hold them for me so I wouldn't be tempted and give them to me according to doctors orders.

I hope this helps you. Codeine is an opiate, just like Heroin.

All my best,
Persephone
