It's hard having a child with an addiction as we all know too well. It doesn't feel good to enable and it doesn't feel good to detach either. I saw on the internet where a father saw his homeless heroin addicted daughter on TV being interviewed. Before seeing her, he and his wife didn't know if she was alive or dead. They had lost contact with her. After seeing her on TV, he made the decision to become homeless with her. He took along his daughter's dog. So he is homeless with her and so is the dog. It was so heartwarming and yet so sad at the same time. They appeared to be middle class and the daughter in her mid 20's. The father says he will remain homeless with her until she decides to get help. So far, she hasn't decided to get help.
UGH!! The things addicts do to the ones who love them the most....
Its kind of a sweet story.
I agree - THAT is sacrifice!
I cant imagine how it is to have a child who is addict/alcoholic. As a mother, my prayers and heart go out to all of you. Sending you big hugs!!!
That's so sad. I can relate to wanting to give up everything to help. The sad thing is nothing really seems to help. I hope she does turn things around.
Its interesting...they interviewed her again after her father and her dog joined her. The interviewer asked her knowing your dad is homeless too and he's going to remain homeless til you get help, are you going to get help now? Her response was in a way she felt like this life (being drug addicted and home!ess) was easier...
