Being a modestly attractive lady, I find myself spending too much time fixing up to go to meetings. I go to lots and lots of meetings, so I find myself spending lots and lots of time and energy 'doing the pretty thang' as I refer to getting ready,(thang being my so country accent!). This has been troubling me somewhat. This morning tho, I heard a commercial on tv saying " It aint how you look when youre doing what youre doing, its HOW youre doing what it looks like youre doing). Wow, this spoke VOLUMES to me. I dont intend to go anywhere looking like a slob, however, its ok it the makeup and clothes arent always perfect. Can any other gals relate?

Janet... lately i have been spending more time trying to dress nicer... and i get my hair done now... i can spend hours looking at department stores... but, i never buy anything that isn't on sale. (My husband calls me the bargain shopper...lol) But, you know, i don't think it's bad to take care of ourselves now that we are clean. I was such a slob when i was on the pills. Just as long as our looks is not all we think about. But, i am most comfortable in a pair of jeans and like a fitted t-shirt or blouse... it's hard to catch me in a dress or a skirt... just cuz i don't feel like "me" in them. But, i think it's okay that you take care of yourself... :) Love, Bri :)

I know what you mean, but on the other hand, putting on makeup and caring about how you look means you are mentally healthy and thank God for that. I'm sure that "fussing" isn't a really good idea because it's a vain thing to do and the time could better be spent on other things.
Don't you sometimes see people that you KNOW you could fix up to look better than they do though? It's a shame to walk around NOT caring how you look either.

although what you say is true and very beautiful, not only did i make an awesome living off of making others look great, but it aklso is a great self esteem booster. no its not about a look beauty starts within. but i dont feel compleate unless i have the whole package meaning the outer beauty as well. i always say, you can only make the best with what god gave ya. i want to look good for me not anyone else.

Oh... speaking of beauty and stuff... i want to share with ya'll a product that really works! It that Sally Hansen you can get it at the grocery store... it's like 6 bucks... and it's for dry, cracked feet... and in the winter i know our feet take a beating... so for all of you who want to get flip flop and open toe shoe ready you gotta try it! I put it on last night and this morning i woke up and my feet feel better than they have ever felt... and they look better than they ever have! It's called... "Just Feet NightTime Heel Repair Ointment"... and it's guaranteed to work. So, i thought i would give it a shot... and it's embarrassing to say but my feet were pretty bad... i am shocked that it worked so well. Love, Bri :)
Being the tomboy I am makeup & such isnt such a big deal BUT I find that if my hair looks dirty I wont just head out.I always make sure I at least wet it down & stlye it....mj

Wow, what a long day. I did hair all day without a break, got off at 4:30, dashed to a 5:30 meeting, got back home in time for a friend to come by and give me a massage, now its midnight. I didnt have time to freshen up before I went to the meeting, but, oh well, went anyway. That was my focus in this post, in the past I may NOT have gone if I hadnt had time to freshen up the makeup, recurl my hair, change clothes. I looked fine. I was just checking my motives for all the preperation I did before going to a meeting. I need to be going for recovery, not recognition. I had been acting as tho I were going out on a first date or something!!
