Jack,
thought you could relate...currently in NYC...with the home folks and some old homies....went to Coney Island yesterday....hadn't been there in centuries....actually probably in my pot and alcohol daze over 20 years ago...man..even straight the place is still eerie and all Pink Floydy.. the subway trip there and the denizens of the particular car i was in imparted a dark side of the moon aura to the journey...
but what really tripped me out were the current prices of the rides in particular....5 bucks for a brief run thru the old funky scary house...and the ocean's mist hangs heavily over the ancient but defunct parachute jump...
took many pictures....don't think Coney Island can survive the tide much longer
hope all is well with you...MARY:)
Ahhh the last subway stop into southernmost Brooklyn. Fireworks over Astroland. The Cyclone. Nathans Famous. The smell of salt water taffy .
Hope you had a good time. I haven't ventured down that way in years. Its a little Erie nowadays.
Coney Island has always been like a mix between the old fashion beach/boardwalk & a bad acid trip.
best,
jack

Ditto Jack on all of the above....funny how you spelled 'eerie'....as 'Erie'.....i presently reside near Lake Erie......sadly an expatriated New Yorkan....nothing much in the ol' Midwest similar to the 'Coney'....save some of the locals knowing about them bad acid trips of yore (and mine or should i say mind)
all the best at ya too MARY
