Jayde (and everyone else too), I'm experiencing internet problems and I might not be able to check this board out later...and I'm off to the mountains this weekend; but know that I can identify with what you are feeling right now..remember there is a solution...there is hope and I'm gonna keep drivin' that home to you...this is a deadly serious malady we are afflicted with...one of my sister's friends hung himself in his prison cell today...crack took him back out...he was wealthy, handsome, had a beautiful fiancee who is one of my sister's best friends...but this thing he couldn't grasp again (he had sobriety before) ~ I'm told that he had a huge ego...our egos will keep us from recovery...I'm told he intro'd his Dad to the Program ~ I've seen his Dad take a cake for 12 years of sobriety a few times this week. Another friend of my sister's had a grand mal seizure in the Sunday 5:30 pm meeting ~ abrupt benzo withdrawal ~ according to her it's just stress, the denial runs deep...I hope with sincerity that you are ready and that you will be fortunate enough to get this thing again, you know you can do it! Sheesh, if I can do it anybody can! As I've been told time and time again...there are 3 options for me if I go back out and drink again: death, institutions (mental wards) or prison....it's time to get willing ~ it just may very well save your life. I not trying to come across as harsh, but this is not the first death I've experienced in recovery ~ far too many of us are dying when all we have to do is surrender to the cunning, baffling and powerful disease. I know I'm on a soap box right now; but hey if it saves one person's life...well...
Thanks so much for this post VW! I needed this so bad today. I'm sorry these terrible things are happening, but it also shows that it could be any one of us. It's scary to say the least. Thanks for sharing, and i hope you have a wonderful time in the mountains with your parents;)
I just found out this morning that my H is taking my son and i to Wisconsin Dells for the weekend. (tomorrow is my B-day) My son told me, (he's not even 3 yet) lol....it was supposed to be a secret and after H left for work this morning my son said, "when daddy gets home we're going to the water park in the Dells;))) Little nark;) lol.........
