The process for getting registered is complex as you can imagine...but once reg.patients can get injectable heroin ampoules.Now the good Dr.Marks reckons his approach has cut blackmarket dealing in his area to almost nil....but other health and police proffesionals refute this...i probobly would also.....but it sounds like a realistic approach to long term addiction.Im sure yer fella has heard of this bloke...but i thought i would just throw it out for ya.

The whole world needs to re-evaluate its thinking regarding drugs. We've got it all wrong. Dunno how it should be...but the current thinking doesn't work. Too much judgement...not enough genuine caring and help...everyone trying to please joe public who is a bigot and an ignorant arse!

Hello..Maddy but im with you there....drugs are looked upon as a law and order issue were they are really a health issue.You just have to look at the U.S to see drug policy at its worst......billlions to the DEA etc..but f*** all for education and health services...billions for prisons filling up with low leval street dealers....have they stopped the flow of drugs??NO...if anything hardcore drug use has risen ...price and purity tell that story.A sad and sorry state of affairs all over the world.Take care...Davey

I will google this good Dr and Widnes is only a stones throw away - Wil Self away with the faries but a decent enough human being. My man has amps for his methadone and injects something to do with him not being able to drink the stuff on top of other prescribed meds.
He doesn't want the prescribed H as a long term solution which it isn't but as a way out of using Meth and street smack he's really down in the dumps at the moment and the rain isn't helping.

I've found him The NHS were taking him off their list in 2002 so no idea how this is working or if he's still there. The ugly one is going to write to him tomorrow no harm in asking seeing if he's still there. I think this bloke was on a doc on C4 a few weeks ago he's a psychiatrist and was an addict prior to going to medical school.

Imagine that a Doctor who is a recovering addict.......we could use a few more of him around............we never hear about the great things recovering addicts have achieved.

I work in Harm reduction and the clients who come in are, for the most part, some of the nicest people I have ever met. None of them planned on becoming addicted, but they have and we are there to make sure that they are as healthy and safe as they can be while they are using. Our clients are a community of people who generally help eachother out. They bring back used needles etc to us. We work as a community of outreach and clients together. it bothers me that when I tell people whay I do for a living that they are not usually understanding. But this work is my passion and I will advocate for those who are looked down upon by the ignorant "Joe Public"

Not a lot of people think as you do - hell if they did it would be easier because addicts could actually come out in the open and talk about it. Here every problem from murder to flashers is put at their door, i aren't saying there aren't some not nice addicts and dealers but shooting them all - which i heard my local church going shopkeeper say yesterday is not really very nice either.
