Jeff - Off Topic Question

I'm aiming this at you, Jeff because I've seen you posting about alot of these medicines. Anyone else with any experience is welcome to give me your input.

First of all, I've had lung problems since I was an infant. Chronic bronchitis as a teenager. Heavy smoker for over 20 years. And we all know I haven't been kind to my lungs over the years...with all the butane, etc. that I've f***ed with.

Anyways, maybe 6 months ago my new doctor determined that I've probably actually had asthma my whole life that wasn't properly diagnosed. He put me on 3 inhalers...combivent 2x a day, qvar (steroid) 1x a day, and albuterol as needed.

Well, it was going okay with that. All of a sudden, I'm getting all of these allergy symptoms this spring. Never had that before. I've got some bad s*** going on with my breathing now. I almost went to the ER a few days ago I was so short of breath. I went to the dr. today and when he listened to my breathing he said how tight and constricted I sounded. He decided that maybe the allergies were the culprit this time, not an illness. So, on top of the inhalers, I'm also now taking Prednisone (only for 7 days) and Singular indefinitely. I told him I've heard bad things about the prednisone and he said that usually people with the worst side effects are the one's on it long term.

I don't know what I'm asking. I just wondered about your experiences and exactly what you take all these meds for. I know not being able to breathe well is not a good feeling. I know I shouldn't be smoking either. Any other suggestions as far as success you've had with any other meds?
