Hi Everyone
I have just spent the weekend at a place called Lightning Ridge it is in the outbacks of Australia it is a town built around opal mines and on there population sign they have a big (?) Question mark because no one is sure of the population.
Every year on the third weekend in June they have an AA Rally and up to 300 members turn up and the highlight for me is the Friday night campfire meeting held on one of the members properties.
There isnt anything more spiritual for me than a group of recovering alcoholics and there partners having an AA meeting sitting around a huge fire under the stars drinking tea and coffee eating homemade soups and cakes sharing there experience, strength and hope with each other.
I have met people from all over Australia this weekend and have made new friendships that will grow a Day at a Time.
Just wanted to share some of my recovery with you .
Some days it only seems like yesterday I was knocking on deaths doors not knowing what was real and what wasnt my disease had taken me to the pits of my life.
I had hit another rock bottom and today I thank God and AA that, that rock bottom didnt have a trap door in it. Through some miracle I hadnt developed a wet brain. That maybe a yet for me if I was insane enough to think after the time I have spent in recovery that I could drink again like normal persons.
Its good to be back home for a while and be with my family also to have access to a computer so I can check in.

I have been spending a lot of time down the South Coast at a place called Erowal Bay its near Jarvis Bay and Huskisson. I dont know if your familia with the area .
I was put of work late last year and havent been able to find employment since. So I have been spending more and more time there. Its taken me time to get used to living here being woken up most mornings by kangaroos thumping past the bedroom windows. And all the rainbow lariats feeding (parrots). Nothing to do but go fishing or surfing and read and take photos. There are no phone lines at the moment so I cant hook up to the Internet but I am making arrangements for that. It probably sounds like a boring life to you but someone has to do it. (LOL)

Lifes Good Ginge for me if I dont pick up that first drink I wont get drunk and anythings possible in life. I have AA meetings around the area so theres always someone to talk to. I am heading up to Newcastle this THUR- FRI my wife has something to do with the unions so we are staying at a Hotel in King St. While my wife is doing her thing through the day Ill seek out a meeting or two.
Well its good to be able to sit and read the posts its great to see how far everyone has come.
