Just Out Of Rehab!!

HELLO ALL- I JUST GOT BACK FROM REHAB. I FEEL GREAT. I WAS AT BAYSIDE MARIN FOR 2.5 WEEKS FOR A OXY HABIT. I HAD BEEN DOING THE NARCOTICS FOR THE PAST 10 YEARS. I FEEL NERVOUS BUT VERY OPTIMISTIC. I START OUTPATIENT ON MONDAY AND WILL START TO GO TO MEETINGS. ANY INPUT ON HOW TO HANDLE THIS PATH WOULD BE GREAT. IM 41 YEAR OLD FAMILY MAN WITH A BUSINESS. GOD BLESS.
Hi,
Good luck to you. Welcome to recovery, I was told to make a meeting right from rehab. So I suggest finding a meeting tonight if you can, raise your hand, say your new and that you would like a coffee commitment. Get involved in recovery anyway you can. Ask for a temperary sponsor till you find someone you like and who walks the walk, get some phone numbers and use them.
Take care...................................God bless..........................................Bob
Hi Peter. Hope you are feeling alright..I came out of rehab (God, that really isn't a great pick up line, now is it!!LOL) in January for vics. I wish someone had told me that it will take a while for my brain to heal. I was an overemotional wreck....
My advice would be to TAKE IT EASY. BE VERY KIND TO YOURSELF. CRUISE THE RECOVERY PATH FOR A WHILE UNTIL IT BECOMES SECOND NATURE...
I know they said it, but put that first for a while. Don't let the stress of work and family overwhelm you. I know that is hard to not do, but that will be able to have your full attention later.
The other bit of advice I have is TELL ON YOUR DISEASE. What I mean is, when the cravings come, and your head starts to rationalize just one for pain, stress, happiness, whatever, tell someone. Get some support, and keep the memory of detox and rehab really close...
I went to MPI in oakland. Community living was a little hard to get used to..lol...
Good luck, and keep us posted...

I wish you all the best. My spouse goes to rehab in 36 hours. Any advice for getting our family through and what to expect afterwards?
Depends on what they are going in for...whats the addiction?
Thats great, congrats on completing the program! i to went to rehab, be careful your not in that bubble of safty anymore! please get a sponcer & GO TO MEETINGS!! 90 in 90 if you can, good luck take care, FA
Hi Peter, welcome to the Board and congratulations on your clean time so far. Sounds like you're on the right path -- planning to go to meetings and particpating in the center's aftercare program. Stay close to others in recovery. Like Kerry said, give yourself some time to get used to life without the Oxy. Don't be discouraged when the thoughts of using .....it's natural, but you need to build up your mental defenses throught the aftercare and the meetings. Good luck to you and keep posting, let us know how you're doing. Peace, M.
THANKS FOR ALL THE FEEDBACK GUYS. IM LUCKY THAT IVE HAD A SUPPORTIVE WIFE AND FAMILY. MY KIDS ARE YOUNG. BUT I WILL CONTINUE TO DO ALL THE AFTER CARE THAT IS NEEDED INCLUDING GOING TO A SHRINK THAT SPECIALIZES IN ADDICTION. I FEEL THE BEST I HAVE IN 10 YEARS. GOD BLESS.
