Hey everyone, just a quick note from me, hope you are all good, I got outa hospital and am sooooooooooo happy to be home. Am still in a fair bit of pain, have Ultram but doesn't do much. The morphine "feed yourself" drip only lasted a day cause I somehow managed to get 50 mgs/mls?? in me within an hour after surgery. I was in serious pain and I just pushed that button everytime I remembered it was there. Got totally out of it and the nurses could tell so they only gave me 2 injections of 10 a day and none for 3 days now. I feel and look like a preganant woman. The scar is really long, but at the moment looks as thin as a paper cut so it hopefully wont turn out too bad. Hugs to you all, Charmed
Dear Charmed_1,
I'm so glad that you are out of the hospital; although, I wish your pain was being controlled a little better.
Take it easy for a while, and it's always good to see a post from someone that hasn't been around recently.
My thoughts and prayers are with you, Charmed!

Charmed.....thanks for checking in and letting us know. I hope your recovery from the surgery is short and the pain gets better! Take care of yourself and don't stay away so long!
Thanks for the lovely posts Ben & Carol. It's good to see you back here Ben, I've often wondered how you were getting along. This messageboard is getting brighter every day.

Hey Charmed,
Didn't know you were getting operated on, but I am glad to see you are out of the hospital and home....Hopefully the pain will decrease as each day goes on and life will soon be back to normal for yah.....
You take good care of yourself and rest as much as possible.....
Tina
BTW, I wanted to thank you again for all the info you sent.....I started the effexor and it is horrible. I hope the side effects lessen, It has only been 2 days and I am going nuts and ready to throw it in the trash....

Hey Tina - Just a quick post cuz I saw you started on effexor. I've been on it for a few years now, and it seems to be working really well for me. One thing I don't do is push one AD versus another, because I know that we're all so different, and the brain chemistry is such a mystery (to me at least). If it doesn't work be patient, there are other meds to try. But it can get frustrating, that's for sure...especially if you're dealing with lousy se's. Take care and good luck! Jim
Hiya charmed how the book coming on? jackie xxxxxxxxxx
Hey Jim,
Thanks for writing.....The doctor told me I had to give my body time to adjust.....but I hate that I feel stupid the most, I need to be sharp and focused at all times, the baby's health depends on that....I can't concentrate on anything, even posting, I posted to many but if I had to redirect for something else I lost the thought and had to erase...I hope this goes away before I up the dose, I can't imagine it all doubled.....
One day at a time and I bet I will be saying lots of prayers....

It's real dicey with AD's that's for sure. For example I was on Prozac for years, and then for some reason it just "pooped out". Before I got settled on effexor I tried zoloft, wellbutrin, remeron, I think that's it. It can be really frustrating, especially some of the se's, but when it works it can be the greatest thing since slice bread!
There are some new AD drugs too, like cymbalta and lexapro, that I've heard good things about. I've seen folks in 12 step rooms struggle for years with alcohol and/or drugs and then they get on the right AD and voila! they are so much better! It's not for everyone mind you, but I wish some folks were a bit more openminded about these type of drugs. JMO.
BTW, I'm on 187.5 mg daily. I have a really excellent doc - she is a psychopharmacologist - and she is so awesome when it comes to this sort of stuff. I suppose that's her job, but it's the way she's able to convey it in layman's terms and with hope and compassion when times are tough.
Again, I'm thinking of ya - been there.

Hi Charmed, glad you're home from the hospital. I laughed out loud when I read what you did with the morphine feed -- I could see myself doing that so easily! lol Stay well.
Dear Charmed_1,
I haven't been around as much as I was last summer. I'm in the homestretch of my second year of law school, so that takes up most of my time.
Nevertheless, you've never been far from my thoughts. My thoughts and prayers are with you.

I am glad that you are feeling better. I never got a morphine drip, but I would've done the same thing..lol.. Damn nurses...
Anyway, joking aside, I hope you are okay and becareful with the ultramm..

Dear Charmed I',m glad your feeling better. And I would of done the same with the morphine(when I used) I havent had any Ultram in 60+days.You say they dont do anything but to me they are a loaded weapon in my hands.Take Care & get healthy...mj
JohnDee - na, the pic isn't me, I'm too paranoid to put my pic up full time (Big Bruva & all that) But I thought a hot chick avatar would inspire me to work at being the hot chick I used to be (inside & out) ;o)
Tina & JR - I agree with AD's I've been through so many!... Something to keep in mind Tina is that the risk of suicide is higher during the first few weeks of taking most AD's, something to do with the neurotransmitters zapping away or whatever they do, it can cause anxiety until your brain balances them all out, so try and stick it out.
Jackie - Thanks for the email, haven't done much work on the book lately, I wish I could get motivated!!! Hope you are all good luv.
None - lol
Ben - Thanks again, it's great to have you back

Hey LB & MJ, thanks for the kind words, have you guys got any info or experience you could share with me about Ultrum? I only got 40 X 50mg capsules, I don't feel any significant relief of pain from taking them and definately no high. Are they addictive? I dont think they will give me another prescription anyway. Whats a normal dose? I'm told 100mg twice a day. How do they work cause they aren't opiates?
Cheers

Charmed, please be careful with the Ultram. It is highly addictive. I have been using it for 5 years and I am currently tapering off. 50 mg every 4-6 hours is the standard dose. I got up to 250 mg three times a day and stayed there forever. I am now down to 150 mg twice a day. So far so good, but everyone (mainly people on this site - thank you all!) have warned me of the difficulties of w/d (seizures, etc.)
It is amazing to me how many people still think Ultram is benign. I went and saw my doctor yesterday to confess all and he was totally out of touch. He remembered going to a drug company dinner 2 years ago, where they pushed Ultram as the non-addictive alternative to opioids. He has promised to look into the effects of Ultram more closely and I think he may be more reluctant to write scripts for it. On the one hand you have the drug companies pushing this stuff and on the other hand you have all the negative views on addiction and here we are stuck in the middle. I know there are legitimate uses and users of pain meds, but I wonder just how much of this stuff is consumed by addicts like me? From the number of internet sites selling, I can only assume that it is a very large percentage. Do you think the drug companies really want us all to quit? No conspiracy theory, just a thought.

Hi Charmed;
I don't have any experience from Ulltram, but I've heard some pretty nasty stories about it. I know Kerry went thru a tough time with Ulltram.
Even though that's not you in your avatar, it sure is nice to look at. While I can't speak for JohnDee, I'm pretty sure that's not him in his avatar either.
Take care;
Jim

Thanks for the advice Tim & JR. .
Tim did you get a buzz off Ultrum or did use it for pain and got physically addicted? How long did it take? Yesterday I was in soooo much pain I felt like I'd ripped something out of place while rolling over, The Ultrum didn't seem to help at all and I definately have not got any buzz off it that would make me want to take more.
JR - Hmmm, I think you're right, John Dee can't be a dog! You a super hero though, well now that's debatable lol

It never really gave me a mental buzz...that is why I thought it was safe..but it physically made me feel better. I took it as prescribed, but think I got mentally addicted. If that makes any sense. I was afraid of withdrawls, and after six months, could definately feel it if I didn't take it...very tired, slight crawling in my legs...etc. I went to the dr to get off, and he handed me oxy. OOOooopppss...
Anyway, I am on sub now. But if you only take it for a short period of time, you should be okay. Just don't refil the script.
I hope you get better...and I am gona bet that isn't john either on his avatar. But this is cyberspace..you never know. JR...I like you better without the cape.
