KAVA KAVA ... what is it? does it help? is it expensive?

re:kava kava?what is it? I have used kava kava,in combination with valerian and passionflower among other herbs. In my years in and out of withdrawal along with various pain producing medical conditions,I have had to find alternatives to opiates to help me. Kava, kava is an herb used for anxiety, and so is valerian.Also- the amino acid l-tryptophan(its whats in turkey and milk that makes you sleepy. But watch out--valerian smells like skunk. lol.You can find these in the herb, vitamin section of your drugstore or gnc. Also check out "the vitamin shoppe",( you can find it online and also request a catalog,) has about the best prices with various companies. These products are not addictive either.Valerian is calming like valium, but is not related to it . Add some b vitamins and magnesium for cravings and you will find it helps more than you could ever believe possible.Good luck,I hope this helps.
KavaKava is awesome stuff. It has come under scrunity of the FDA because of potential liver problems if abused. But so does tyelnol and motrin. If used correctly it can really help aleviate anxiety. I found it online through ebay. It's getting harder and harder to find in health food stores but most will order it for you. I strongly recommend it. It helped me through the worst of it.

it is an herb. I personally never tried it because I heard that it is very hard on your liver.
Now that is a prime example of how sick i am.
I used to take 20 plus norcos, and drink 12 beers, but no thanks on the kava, it might hurt my liver?????????

i know where u are coming from with that, ms little beach. I've tried kava tea sevaral times to relax, and it helped. I've used valerian also, and it helped me sleep & at first gave me some pretty vivid & cool dreams. For some reason a Dr. suggested i stop using valerian, i don't know why, but i did. IZ think kava ok, but it does have some temporary affects on men. There is a saying, from days gone yore about girls not being too interested in boys indulging in kava, then again, i never had the overwhelming problem of girls being all that interested in me. (only kidding- they were always mad about me)
