Hey doll..I read your post under Mike's thread and you said you have 3 surgeries coming up. Crap. I wonder, can they just keep you in the hospital until you don't need the narcs anymore? That way, it's used as prescribed and you are totally safe from yourself....
If not, start setting up your safety net now. Start thinking about the what ifs. Like, what if I have to take them beyond the hospital? Who would adminster for you? What about other methods of pain control? Make sure your dr. takes this very seriously. Tell him you want an appt to talk JUST about the pain med situation.
Who's at home to help you?
One thing about my addiction, it was completely self-induced. I didn't have surgeries or chronic pain or illness's that started me on this path of destruction..did it all by myself. Aren't I a big girl?
I will always be here for you and you can see my email address..use it any time.
Love you

Heya Cowgirl,
I already told myself that Im not taking any narcotics with me when I leave the hospital. So the specialists and plastic surgeon already know what my decision will be.
In all honesty this isn't my first surgery by any means. Ive already had 5 previous surgeries and each time I left the hospital I didnt take ANY pain meds with me at all! Seriously, and some of those surgeries were very hard on me. Each time I was in the hospital for 1 week and even then I didnt take that much morphine from my pump. I someone tore my colon or all things, they think it was from training and working out too much, anyways surgery for a complete rectal prolapse is very painful and hard to deal with. Even the pre-opt to get ready for it was almost too much for me. After the extremely painful surgeries when I went home I couldnt sit for 2 weeks or even have a bowel movement (sorry about the details). All this time I had no pain meds, and ALL this was just from one of my surgeries!!
So to make a long story short. I know I can do this!
Take care,
Kiwi

Ok, tough cookie...just humor me will you? Have a back up plan in place, just in case.
My dad had his colon removed but had a resection? Is that the same thing? He ended up with a tear and a leak after the surgery and developed paratenititis (sp). Almost lost him. Is this what you're have done as well?
