Know Of Any Good Rehabs That Are Affordable?

Hi, everyone
I've spent like 10 hours on websites trying to find an excellent rehab facility for my son at an affordable price. I KNOW they're out there, just having problems connecting. It was recommended that my son go in for 3 or 4 months and that would be about $30,000 from what I've found. Any suggestions or recommendations would very much be appreciated!

mornin' dev -

not sure if you son has medical insurance or what kind; if so, some of the insurance companies require you contact them (there's a number usually on the card) for mental health and substance abuse services.

what i'm about to recommend, i would have no way of knowing if this would be in the medical insurance's network, but i have had two dear, dear friends who have gone to silver hill in new canaan, conneticut. both of these people were pill addicts and both have enjoyed over 3 years of sobriety, since being discharged. of course this came with working a program of recovery, once they returned home and making recovery their number one priority in life.

here's the website to silver hill, if you would like to check it out:

http://www.silverhillhospital.com/index.asp

according to this board's list of treatment centers, it runs about $1000 - $1500 per day.

while there are some great hospitals that deal with addiction (silver hill, hazelden, betty ford etc.) all over the united states, i would be remiss if i did not say how beneficial it was for me to go to rehab then follow up with an IOP (intensive outpatient program) that is associated with the rehab hospital i went to that was in my own backyard, so to speak. i was able to connect with the 12 step programs in my city, as this was a requirement of IOP, and it was easier to get to the IOP, which met 3 times a week. what i mean by that is that i did not have a great distance to travel.

i went to google www.google.com and typed in "drug treatment centers harrisburg pennsylvania" and came up with quite a few hits. perhaps, some of our pennsylvanian members would be able to make some recommendations of places they went to or know of in your state.

regardless of what your family chooses, i want you to know that IMHO this is a tremendous positive step that your son is chosing to do. i learned so much while hospitalized in a treatment center and it put a distance between me and the drugs. the trick though, is to continue on one's recovery when discharged. it was a fallacy in my thinking when i walked out after my first 28 day gig in a treatment center and declare myself "cured."

recovery is a life long journey that we take one day at a time with as much support as we can get. and in the beginning i had to become willing to let others who had walked this path before me, love me through their experience, strength, hope and guidance, until i learned to love myself. it took quite some time (with relapses) to learn that.

my thoughts and prayers are with you all. i hope something i have said has helped.
