Last Nite Was The Worst Pain!!!!!

More tooth drama
Its really getting bad now. I was up all night with my tooth absolutely killing me.
It used to hurt for like 10 minutes then go away, not this time. I was an inch away from tears. The whole side of my face is killing me. Around 3 a.m. my husband made me an ice pack. I slept on that--when i would try to move i would wake up and it would start pounding again. Now if have a couple of guys who want to squeeze me into their dds because he does everything. my dds doesnt do back molars root canals. im so confused and hurting so much. My cheekbone hurts and the left side of my nose. i did start taking the antibiotics last night. The reason why i want it pulled is because i just want it done and overwith. i dont want to have to keep going back, get referred to someone else, etc. it hurts so bad... thanks for letting me vent --boo hoo
vent away fire.

Wow that sucks. The antibiotics should make a difference while you are waiting to get in to the dentist. Have you tried any of that over the counter stuff like Oral-Gel? It may help some. If the dentist does a root canal right, you should not have any more pain. They deaden the nerve. Although, if you have an abcess or any other kind of infection they may treat you with AB before they do anything. I feel bad for you, and I hope you feel better soon.

michelle
I feel your pain, been there, and had the tooth pulled just so I wouldn't have to keep going back....

Seems there is nothing worse then when your teeth hurt,
I hope you can get in to see someone today for your sanity,

Hope to hear you are feeling better later on today...

Traci
thanks michelle
krazi--- did anything negative happen when you got your tooth pulled?
Fireside,
I know this pain. You have to go somewhere fast, you need antibiotics, pobably have an infection....and yeah root canal, or the tooth pulled. If you go root canal, once they do it the pain is gone, nothing, maybe a bit sore. I had that damn pain, up to my eye, in my ear. It about drove me nuts.
Try biting down on an asprin, right on the tooth that hurts. It might help of the pain......Taste nasty sorry but if it works you might get some relief.
I hope that you can get this fixed and fast.....
Love,
Tina
Not that I can remember...I know I felt much better, and walked around with cotton in my mouth for a few hours...was not given anything for pain except told to take OTC pain aide if needed....
One day I tell my self Iwill have a new tooth put in, but since it is at the back of mymouth..I don't worry about being vein for now..
Good luck
Ohhh Fire,
I so feel your pain. And why does a tooth always have to act up on the weekend?????
Hang in there! I'll say lots of prayers for you.
Hugs,
Omega
always on the weekend!!! im dieing
i started antibiotics last nite
it hurts so bad
tomorrow dds--
ouch ouch ouch
Hey fire,

I had forgotten about the oralgel, someone mentioned it, I kept it on my gum, it doesn't last long so keep putting on there, ask the pharmacist which is the strongest they sell, ice, and Ibuprofen, until he pulled it. I slathered it every where around the pain area. Ibuprofen 800 mg at a pop, (make sure you eat something first) three times a day (per my dentist) .

Also, I would gargle/swish with as hot as I could stand it water/salt.

Also, not sure if your dentist has this, but mine has the long acting novocaine shot, I am assuming it was novocaine , I think he said 8 hours but not sure about the time. It numbed my whole face.
Pulling the tooth is clearly up to you, but like I said, if mine wasn't in the back I would have gone through the surgery. He was not big on pulling it, gave me the pros/cons I said pull it. No pain meds were needed. I went back the next day to get another long acting shot, then I was good to go.
I feel your pain. No fun.
Fire,
Orajel helped me too. And ask the dds for a shot of novacaine right when you are raedy to leave and take an advil before it wears off. I've done that and there was no pain at all.
Hang in there....
Hugs,
Omega
ooooh fireeesiggn,

Honey..YOU NEED AN O AND D ( open and drain ) Its hurting more because the pulpis dying and bacteria is GROWING

Weve been through this on you oyyyy my tooth thread........it wonjt get better till you go and have the tooth opened ( ANTIBIOTICS can reduce the pressure by killing the bacteria)

Im sorry your hurting hon...tooth pain can really REALLY hurt

BUT Please PLEASE dont get it pulled if its otherwise healthy and has good
bone support. You will regret it so much. ( IF your dentist WOULD do that and to be honest, Id wish someone report him to the College of Dental Surgeons if he'd do that to a perfectly otherwise good tooth....cant IMAGINE he would)

Your call...I know you WANT it pulled........part of tht is pain talking

See your dentist STAT.

Hugs

Ali
P.S.

Oragel extra stregth will hyelp numb it till you get there

Dont want to scare you but you should kknow that a "Dry Socket" is comparable to childbirth and happens from an extraction where you loose the blood clot in the bottom ( sucking on straws, rinsing vigourously are NO-NOs after and extraction)

Pulling a tooth should only be done if there is no bone structure and its flapping around in the wind anyway............or cant be saved .....

Sorrry,,,,,guess this is my passion......lololo

I wont post on the matter again unless you ask.

Hugs

Ali
Im not going to freak you out again Fire, lol I just want to say, I might try to go to the ER if you can't stand it. I went in once and the doctor gave me a shot of novacaine. He happened to be a MD plus a DDS but would think alot of doctors could do it too.

Ooops, Is shot a trigger word for pain?

Sorry, I know how you feel though, so much pressure that you just want it OUT..
Hey firesign,

Can you call your dentist today and meet him at the office?

Mine is on call for weekend, night emergencies. This is clearly one.
Hey all you great tooth people
ALI FIRST--- my tooth is 3/4 a filling, is that still a good tooth? And i do appreciate all your replys--every last one of them!!!
OMEGA AND BROOK- my husband brought home anbesol--it helped some, that with ice packs and motrin. its such a bit*h when it starts up, the whole left side of my face hurts. feels like ive been in a fight!
WIVERSON- youre just a HO! lol--just kidding--shot is not a trigger for me--only when i was shooting shooters to drink!!!
My husband said his friend got his tooth pulled instead of whatever and now hes paying $9000 in braces--- i go tomorrow at 915am. Its going to be a long night.... YOU GUYS ARE THE BEST!! I FEEL LIKE YOURE MY MIDWIVES!!
hahaha-- thanks---fire:)----ps. if i forgot anyone, sorry
What a horrible birthday weekend you have had? Im sorry, wishing you calmness.

Gentle jello shots,
HO

lol
Sweethear...if it has a 3/4 filling on it AND it has full bone support..( doesnt have mobility)

Its still a good tooth.

Anytime you need a filling changed, you loose some more tooth structure though...and thats why you MAY need a crown later...

Its the bone support that counts...and the infection that is growing inthere has to be dealt with ( O&D) so it can escape, and the pressure and pain can subside.

They will take out the nerve and probably put in some soothingZinc Oxide Eugeunal....that will calm your tooth down..a temp filling will go into the hole they used to access the canals...( tiny little hole on the top of your tooth) They make this how right through a crown if you had one in place already..

Once the nerve is out and the infection cleaned out, it canbe filled..the fill the actual canals that once sent blood supply and nouriment to yur tooth with something rubbery called Gutta Percha...they push it down nice and tight so that there is no air pockets, and melt off the ends ..

Your back teeth have 4 roots, your very front only one and your bi-cuspids have 2...ususally though, everyone has some oddball roots...lolol

Its hard to be in pain and in the old days....theyd yank it out..now we know better.

If theres good bone support, and isnt a matter of a long shot ( tooth broken below the gumline or rotten down below the gumline) the tooth should be fine.

Economics also play into people decision to pull.

Hopefully you will have dental insurance, if not talk to your dentist about making payments....all dentists i know would rather take payments than pull a perfectly sound tooth.

Let me know how it goes on monday

meantime use the Ambesol extra strength...its the samw sorta thing the dentists use for topical anesthetic before the give you the...well you know.lolo

Hugs

Ali
wow
well i will just let you guys know what the dds says. Do you think the dds will do the open and drain tomorrow until i see the endodontist? This really bites the big one. Oh well, i guess it could be worse. ---oh and jello shots? those were a little too wimpy for me-- i preferred either tequila or if i was feeling foo fooey i would have a purpel hooter or somthing like that! Man, i went through so much money in my party days!!! yikes!
Try paying for it twice fire...Im going thru it again.

My son who isn't going to school yet! Actaully it is twice as bad because I think mommy a/k/a Ho, might be financing cocktails for girls too. He has to pick up girls ya know. Grrrrrrrrrr
wiverson

lololololol

You crack me up...sorry

Hugs

Ali

Oh and fire? He should do one...( o & d)He has to have the reamers and files though ( sounds worse than it is..they are tiny little things that clean out the nerves and infection...) and if not send you over to the endodontist STAT to get it done as an emergency basis.

Hug

Ali
