Leg In Constant Pain

I have been addicted to lortabs for the last 10 of my life. I've been to re-hab, and underwent rod (rapid opiate detoxification) 2 times. And failed all 3 times. But, refused to give up. I have 2 beautiful children who deserve the best mother, and a husband that deserves the best wife thst I can be. Anyway, my husband and mother in law detoxed me over a period of 3 months. At the height of my asddiction I was consuming give or take 30/10mg lortabs, or oxy's. Basically any opiate i could get my hands on. they just brought me down the same way I started up. And (thank you GOD) it worked, but I still have terriable leg pain. Can anyone tell me how long that will last, and if there is anything i can do to release the traped toxins in fatty tissue. I would be so very grateful to anyone that could help. I just dont want any reason to go back. And the pain sometimes leads you back. good luck to all out there trying to free yourself of this terriable addiction, believe me if I can do it. anyone can. on another note there is a book by james frey. Its his story about his own drug addiction, and then his journey to recovery. I recommend it strongly. the name is: A million little pieces. Thank you for letting me join you all in this wonderful forum. I need support from people who have been there. again thank you so much. I look forward to any posts that may arrive. my name is Dana.
Hey Meckanicsgirl,

I'm sorry, I think I messed up the name, I really love the name. That's cool. Congrats in getting off the pills, I think the leg pain last a week or two, not sure though. Can't really remember. I just wanted to welcome you to the board. I'm sure others will give you some helpful advice. Good Luck to you.

Love,
Liz
Drink lots of fluids water gatorade--eat bananas--are you sick ?

Pain? exercise --walk in a pool. If you can ge tto a beach the best walk is in the sand. Constant resistance from the sand.

Cut out caffeine and take the proper vitamins. Eat healthy and get the proper amountof sleep.

Hi mechaniksgrl:
I can relate to your d.o.c. I too took just about any opiate I could but vicodin was my demon. When I first quit until recently I had terrible leg pain/cramps etc. I looked on the net and found a med called "Requip" which helped during the early stages of my w/d. It is non-narcotic, non-addicting and has the added bonus..it may help you sleep. I don't take it anymore, but remember well the weird pain/cramps etc 1-2 months into my recovery. Ask your Dr. about it. I still have leg/foot pain but not the same pain as when I was withdrawing. Good Luck in your recovery and welcome to the board. I am new here too and you can get a lot of help, info and support here.

Hi and Welcome to the board. Congrats on your clean time. As far as leg pains go try Motrin 800 mgs if your able to take it. Also like Jeff said drinks lots of water. I take 90 mg potassium pills at night when I have leg cramps. I get them every once in a while. You could just go out and buy some banana's to. Some people talk about something called restless legs or leg cramps. You can buy it OTC. Hopefully someone comes along and tells you the correct name of it. I have also heard putting a bar of soap under your sheets by your feet is suppose to work as crazy as that sounds. Anyway good luck and welcome. Rae
Magnesium Suppliment - 250mg about an hour before bed.

And Requip from your doctor specifically for RLS.
My legs never hurt during wd. Isnt that weird?
