Hi stopdrinking6975
It's good to read your post. Its sad when we lose people we love. I to have lost a few people I love. Some I didnt get a chance to tell them that.
Your husband is partly right in what he said it is all in your head. This disease and I believe it is a disease today. Affects the Mind, Body and Soul. Spiritually Mentally and Physically. In the Big Book of Alcoholics Anonymous it says . Therefore, the main problem of the alcoholic centres in his mind, rather than in his body.
Because when we take a drink it sets up a physical caving where one drink is to many and fifty drinks is not enough .And we get a mental obsession of the mind where all you think about is the next drink and how to get it.
This is a disease of Denial {{ Dont Even No I Am Lying }}.Some normal people say why dont you use Willpower like Ted or Mary They can stop any time they want to.
But the alcoholic has lost that choice. To explain that.
Next time someone says use willpower .say to them the next time you have diarrhoea and need to go to the toilet use willpower. lets see how that works for them.
Thats what it is like for the alcoholic they have lost the choice of willpower.I have found for me there is nothing that will happen to me today that is Sad enough ,Bad enough or Glad enough to pick up a drink over.
The only way I will do that if I chose to pick it up.

And just for today I choose not to.
Have a great day God Bless
I just lost my first boyfriend to drinking> .He was 5 blocks from me and i didnt know it. Sad, I think I could have helped. He was only 48, guess he had a shunt for sometime then hospice for two weeks and died..He was an awesome looking kind hearted soul who would have done anything for anyone. It is in your head, you need support getting it out of your head.
