i am 24 years old and addicted to oxycontin. i honestly cannot tell you how many i take in a day. probably at least 1000 miligrams. when i can't get oxy i take so many vicodin im suprised i haven't o.d on tylenol. Because of my addiction my life has spiraled into hell.

i have lost my wife, job and am nearly homeless. i would go to rehab but have no $ to pay. my life has become one big search for pills. the other night i attempted to od myself but blacked out after a few hours. woke up covered in vomit 20 hours later. am really debating on pulling the trigger soon.

can any one help with any suggestions
thank you
chris
Dear Chris,

You've come to the right place and boy and I glad you're here!!!! There are many helpful and caring people on here that will be able to lead you through this. I came to this board looking for help for my 29 year old son who started with vicodin, went to oxycontin (and was hooked immediately), and then turned to heroin because it was cheaper and easier to get. He has been through HELL and put us through it too, but after getting into legal problems (stealing to support his habit) and complete financial distress, he went to rehab. Because he was diagnosed with severe depression and couldn't hold a job, he was able to get help through the state to pay for his rehab. I will post a few websites I have saved regarding rehabs in another post. I have to find the info. Some rehabs are FREE! Don't feel your situation is hopeless. YOU are valuable....YOU are special....You can do this! Don't let some horrid, evil drug steal you away from this world! My son has 260 days heroin free! It isn't easy but it can be done. He went on suboxone for a little while to help, but you have to be careful with that if you're not truly ready to quit using.

I just wanted you to know that this happens to a LOT of very good people. You're not a bad person...you have the disease of addiction. I want you to know that I care about you and I will be praying for you. Please keep in touch!

God bless!
Susan
Dear Chris,

Go to this website and click on your state to find low and no cost rehabs. Call now to see if you can be put on a list or if a bed is available in detox. My son dreaded going away to rehab but ended up not wanting to leave he liked it so much! He had to detox in jail!

Hey Jack,

I too lived in oxy hell for 3 years. I so know the desperation you feel. YOu can pull out though and feel so much better then the pills ever made you feel. Also one of my best friends was taking as muich as you and was able to stop. Is there any way to see your Dr. and explain? Stopping and withdrawal is very scary I know. It's tough, but it can be done. A Dr. may be able to ease some of the withdrawal symptoms. Have you tried an AA/NA meeting? Peolpe there can provide you with tools to live without drugs.

Withdrawal is tough, you won't like it, but worrying and worrying about it only makes it worse. You will live. Please know a life free from enslavement awaits you. You need to commit to stopping and find the support system you'll need. This is a good place to start. People here will walk with you the whole way. Please check in again and tell us how you're doing...how we can help. I'll pray for you, Beck
Hey Jack, I hope you're doing a bit better today. My doc was oxtcontin too, and yes, it's a living hell but it's escapable. There is hope. I sincerely believe that you must seek some face to face help. You need a doctor to help you through this. Try to get some help before you do something that might be regrettable. God bless you brother and there is light at the end of this tunnel.
this one needs to stay at the top for it has me worried. How do you do that bump thing?

Dude.. email me perhaps I can help... or will try like hell. Ending it isn't going to solve a thing, when things are the darkest that is when the light starts to shine, you just can't see it now, but you will.

Welcome to the Board Chris ;o)
I am glad you posted. I have also been addicted to Oxycontin. And yes, there were days I would take up to 1000mg a day. Me and husband were in a car accident and had health issues. That drug was the beginning of my full blown addiction. It has taken me awhile to get off. I have tapered and quit, that was very difficult. But I would relapse, due to health issues and no support system in place. Today I have almost 3 months. I am on Suboxene and tapering off of that slowly with a Dr.'s supervision. When I look back, and I don't go there often. I realize that I was Powerless and my life was unmanageable. My day consisted of how "I" was feeling. Well now that I have had support and have been active in my recovery, the "I" is being taken away. It's more about one day at a time and helping others. I truly hope you keep posting. You have made a HUGE step here. Keep coming back. We are all here to support you. Take care, Best WIshes
Dear Brook,

The way that you "bump" things is just to write anything...whether it be a short response or just the word "bump" or "to the top" and since it was the last thing responded to it automatically goes to the top of the list again! I didn't know in the beginning either. Thought it was something complicated! lol

Thank for your concern for Chris. I am too but I'm sure with this group he will be just fine!

Love,
Susan
Dear Chris,

It was good to hear from you today. Did you call anyone? How did you make out? I can look for some more websites if you need more. What state are you in?

God bless!
Susan
Chris...although my DOC was oxycodone, not as strong as oxycontin..I feel for you...it sucks, it really does..but you CAN turn things around...many here have done it..I had a medically related relapse after 3 months..now on day 3..luckily I took as prescribed..but it is not easy...Drugs will make you feel suicidal..as soon as that poison is out of your system, you will be amazed how good sober life can be...Please do not give up..there is help here....hang on..Love, Sharonn
Welcome, and you can get free.
I would suggest going to inpatient.....make sure it is a medical detox...they can make you comfortable while detoxing. They can also introduce you to programs that can help you stay clean. I heard the $ part...but hopefully you can find a place in your area.

Oxy addiction is so hard to break. But, you can do it.
Peace.
Kerry
hi sharonn,i just wanted to let you know that oxycontin is oxycodone,it's straight 100percent oxycodone,if you don't believe me call your phamarist or doctor and they will tell you the same thing,by the way i hope you are feeling better..............vinny.
