Hi Kerry, I hope things are settling down at your place. I saw on another post that you are looking forward to your son reaching 18...man I hear ya! When they're teens they seem brain damaged. But as you say (and I have to) we do our best and can do no more. I judged my mother so harshly, but she has been my role model, now that I know better, for more years then I can count. Anyway...I hope things are better. Take care of yourself too,
Beck
Hey Beck! How is it goin?
My son is 14 and yep, I can't wait until he is 18.
Right now he is wreaking havoc. He needs a hug and a kick in the a** at the same time....lol.
It is so hard to be the mom and the dad. Where is that line between love and nuture and disclipline and the right way to handle it? Especially when he is an antagonizing/manipulating ball of love.
Then there is that mess of watching two idiots trying to forge a parenting partnership that hated each other....lol.
I, too, judged my mom so harshly. I thought I had gotten a raw deal. Then I became a parent....and I will never forget that day I finally got it and called her a queen from then on. I finally understood all she did....I couldn't love her enough after that.
Thanks for asking...this too will change. I know it will.
How is your son? You have 2 boys, right? I remember reading about laughter in your house...hug them tight because soon they will be men...:0)

Hi Kerry,
Well said on all. Dad here is often times less mature then they are. Can't count on him much in terms of guidance. If I put a boot in their butts, (both are 16) I wish I had hugged them, if I hug them I want to strangle them.
My big problem now is grades. Don't know what to do. They do fairly well on the work, but miss so many assignments it trashes the grade. I tell them why do 80% of the work, do o.k. on it and still get a D. They lie when I ask about homework. Lying has always been a problem. And profound laziness.
I remember 14 as being more complicated then this age. Lots of new hormones raging. It's so hard when they become embarrassed of us like we were with our parents. That was a blow for me. But we hang now and get along pretty good and crack each other up. They're very funny.
But I feel for you girl. There's nothing better or more rewarding then a son in my opinion. Nothing more aggravating either. I know it's supposed to get easiser, but I doubt it. It just gets different, lol. Give him a hug/smack from me.
