Y'all know that look for the silver lining is one of my fav mantras. Well today I'd just thought I'd share my find with you. I didn't get no sleep last night. I was stewing. My boyfriend had a big row with his sister - and for once I thought he had good grounds to. But that's no matter. it wasn't my beef, and it wasn't Rowannes, but that spiteful b**** came and asked me for the highchair and baby bath back, that she'd given Rowanne when she was tiny. I thought, class, take out your anger on a baby - if I'd known it wasn't a gift but a debt instead I'd never have accepted them in the first place. She really climbed into my head, and I was rashing. I'm totally skint, and was worrying where I'd find the cash for a new high chair at short notice. So I scrape together 20 and head off to Argos, order the cheapest baby chair they stock. So I get it home, open the box, and it ain't what I ordered. I got the most expensive supa dupa chair with bells on that the shop has!!! There's my silver lining! If she hadn't been such a stupid cow, then I'd still be struggling with the second hand cheap piece of crap she gave me. Now my little girl is sitting pretty!!!
love ya's

lucky little Rowanne! Great story!
I really like the saying with silver lining too. Think that Susan has a special song with silver lining as well!

Ya cheered me up, Diff.

Good for you Diff! Amazing the small miracles that are doled out when we are feeling down. When I bought my trailer (mobile home) I used the floor plan of one and the deco of another, imagine my surprise when I ended up getting all the upgraded stuff without paying for it.
Nasty old cow, I hope she gets stuck with the old highchair and can't resell it or anything.
I just hate Indian-givers! Jana did that to me with quite a few things, a cute little lucky bamboo, here have it she says, she moves out and it goes with her.

I just can't get my head around an aunt doing that to her own niece - she must be just a delightful individual. Well, honey, what goes around comes around and yours just came around. Ye reap what ye sow - and you, Diff, sow seeds of good will and now they've come back to you in an unusual way. Yay!

What a horrid awful aunt. I did not think anyone could get mad enough to take something back from a baby. She knew that was only for the baby. It gets under my skin i don't even know her but, it has me angry.
The upside is now you got a way better one anyhow. Strange how sometime things work out like that....Karma? it would be even better if she's stuck with a high chair she can't use or get anything out of.....it never pays to be spiteful.

Dear Sashab,
What a GREAT memory you have!!!!! I'm impressed! I think my good memory is gone forever. Here are my lyrics again for those who missed them before. I LOVE this song. Makes my mom feel close because she used to sign it.
May the good Lord bless you and keep you,
Whether near or far away,
May you find that long awaited golden day today.
May your troubles all be small ones,
And your fortunes ten times ten,
May the good Lord bless and keep you,
Till we meet again.
May you walk with sunlight shining,
And a bluebird in every tree,
May there be a silver lining,
Back of every cloud you see,
Will you dream of sweet tomorrows,
Never mind what might have been,
May the good lord bless and keep you,
Till we meet again.
May you walk with sunlight shining,
And a bluebird in every tree,
May there be a silver lining,
Back of every cloud you see,
Will you dream of sweet tomorrows,
Never mind what might have been,
May the good lord bless and keep you,
Till we meet again.
May the good lord bless and keep you,
Till we meet, till we meet again. ''
Dear Diff,
I can't imagine any aunt doing that to her niece no matter what happened between her and the baby's father. How horrible! Unfortunately for her....we reap what we sow.
Love,
Susan

Of course you know the correct thing to do is return to the store & tell them they made a mistake- & you would like to return it for what you ordered.

What totally wrecked me, is the highchair and the baby bath were just secondhand stuff that people had given her, but were surplus to requirements - she bought everything new for her baby. She took em off me and left them dumped outside her house (she lives directly opposite my boyfriends house) until this evening when either someone nicked them or she took 'em to the dump. She took them off Rowanne just for pure spite. And it's true, what goes around comes around. I've always said that when something is doing your head in, just let it go, turn it over to Karma/the universe/God (which ever one you believe in), and it will all be sorted one way or another.
So, I'm looking forward to bin night now. I'm gonna put the rubbish out nice and early, with the box the high chair came in, with it's picture of my snazzy new Prima Pappa highchair for her to see. She'll be so pissed, coz she knows the price of everything but the value of nothing, and it will bug the hell out of her that I've got a more expensive highchair than she has. I'll bet she'll go out and buy an even more expensive one now, and leave the box out for me to see, and I'll just laugh my arse off!!!!!
I'm waiting for her to try and give me back the christening gift I gave her daughter (which she probably will at some point, she's so pathetic). Oh boy, I'd love it if she tried that one - I'd tell her not to tar me with the same brush she's tarred herself with, that my generosity was never in doubt, I don't keep lists of every gift I've ever given, and then call them in as debts later on, coz I've got waaaaay too much class for that.
Thank you, universe, for your timely gift, you've never let me down once.
The more life goes on, the more I'm grateful for the tenets of the Serenity Prayer. I find myself considering it more and more often. Maybe the whole concept of letting go of what we can't change, handing it over to some sort of higher power, so we are able to unburden ourselves from the weight of so many of our worries is the whole purpose of belief, so we feel that we don't have to struggle with feelings of hate, and thoughts of "getting even" or feel that there is no justice in life. I don't subscribe to any particular religion, but I find it so liberating to just let go of bad feelings, and get so annoyed at myself when I find myself falling into the trap of losing sleep over what I can't change. And it's so uplifting when some "random" event settles scores so swiftly and unmistakably. Even when you don't see justice doled out in such a way, when you accept that you can't change something, and you do let go of it, it's gone, and you no longer have to worry about it. The bad feelings subside, and it floats off into the distance. Everybody gets theirs in the end - you don't have to sit about waiting to witness it. If that's what you're doing, then you haven't let it go...
If all you do is focus on the Serenity Prayer, and try to live your life by it, then you can't go far wrong. It makes things so much simpler, and life so much less stressful. When I first heard it, I wrote it off as NA jargon, thought that it couldn't be applied to my life because I wasn't religious. Somehow, bits of it started to make sense, and I realised that it could apply to me. I replaced the bits about asking God, with simply asking myself, asking myself to dig deep, for courage, grace and wisdom. You don't need to believe in the Christian God for those things, for they live within us, all of us, regardless of our beliefs. That makes it truely universal.
I'd better shut up now, or the NAers will have me writing recruitment pamphlets! LOL!!!

Diff,
You're the bestest!
Bin night. Ya best recycle. LOL Cracking me up. Who puts the better high chair box out. Funny. She' s just I am certain a sad, lonely and angry person.
The Serenity Prayer. Heck it sure does pertain to all that's in the making in the universe and back again.
We used to have to say it in our highschool before Student Council meetings. This meant we tried to change things like allowing people to peel off their uniforms at lunch to reveal their "Diamond Dog T-Shirts" underneath. Glam rock and all.
So, we accepted the things we couldn't change cause that Nun ran it wouldn't allow us squat. The wisedom to know the difference sunk in quick.
Thank you, Differs and Tattybyes
