Hi, everyone
Is there anyone else here who has a loved one in prison because of his/her addiction problem? I'm really, really not doing well with my son being in there. Thought it might help to talk to someone in the same situation. Thanks.
Susan
Susan- I know you are worried sick about him. I would be too. Have you talked to him in the last day or so? How is he doing?
Susan,
My son did not live long enough on drugs to make it to prison although I am sure he would of ended there eventually. However, if you have been reading my sons thread he had 6 or 7 friends who were also on heroin with him. One of them, John, was just sent to prison for 6 months. He is 22. I assume your son is around my sons age of 21. John was convicted of a violent drug offense. Although he is safe from drugs in prison he is not safe from doing stupid things. John stole food from another prisoner. They may try to kill him. He calls me almost every day from prison. I have also talked to his parents about this. I told John to keep his mouth shut in prison. Keep to himself and don't steal food. He has only 6 months in prison. Then probation. I believe John is hitting bottom. He may recover when he gets out. If he gets out alive.
Please tell your son the same advice if this is his first time in prison.
I also posted this advice to you in my sons thread.
God Bless,
Phil (David's Dad)

Hi, Danny
Haven't been able to talk to him yet. I feel like I can't take too much more to be honest with the stress of not knowing how he's doing and the financial stress as well. Besides that, my mom has vascular dementia and is in a nursing home. I used to go see her at least 2 or 3 times a week and I feel very badly about not being able to get over, but I have no energy (to pretend nothing is wrong because I'd have to tell her 20 times before I left and it's hard enough to say it once) or the time to visit her. I'm checking into things for my son and packing up his apartment plus helping with my granddaughter. Like I said...one day at a time!
Love,
Susan
