Major Pain Issue

I've been having lots 'n' lots of pain over the last couple of weeks. I'm alterating Tylenol and Advil but, I'm not getting much relief from that anymore. My dr and I have established that I have a low tolerance to pain but a high tolernace to pain medications so I will not take anything norcotic again being that they don't work too well on me anyway. So, my question is this: What can I take or ask my doctor about for my pain? I'm in Canada, too, so some meds aren't even available here yet?

Help!! Suggestions!!-
Meghan

If it's back pain, you might try Momentum. I had better luck with it for a spell of bad back. It's otc and has a small amount of muscle relaxant in it. It also helps get you to sleep at night. The other thing I would suggest is a heating pad. It's usually very comforting. I also have a Shiatsu back massager (around $100) that is very comforting. When you need to be up and about, you might try those Thermacare products (although they're pretty pricey. Best of luck and ((((((hugs)))))).
Meghan-

Is good to hear from you............I had been wondering how you were.......Sorry you are in so much pain, I hope your holiday's went well despite all of that.....

Toradol is a very effective medication that is non-narcotic.............I do know they give Toradol injections, but I am not sure if it is available in tablet form, from the pharamcy?

Maybe someone will know the answer to this one?

I hope you get to feeling better soon, With young children and being in pain, I know that must be very trying.......

Big Hugs.

Hi guys-

Well, other than my pain.....we had a nice holiday. All the way thru!! That's almost unheard of....lol.
I know, way back, when my problems first started I was given Toradol in injection form and it did nothing for me but, isn't it in the same family as Ultram and Ultracet? Those aren't available here. My dr has never heard of it. I have thought about seeing if they have Motrin 800 here.
It's funny because when I was still on all my meds, I never hesitated to call my dr if the pain was more than the pills could handle or if there was a problem but, now I find myself not calling and making excuses for not calling. I think I'm afraid that she'll just write an rx for a narcotic because it seems to be way easier than to find what may work for me. I also, in the last 2 yrs, seem to react to a wide variety of medications. I took Aleve for years but, then I took 2 one day about 2 yrs ago and reacted bad!!! I thought I was going to die!! I can't take anti-inflammatories anymore. Amino acids are out. All sorts of things. I'm tempted to start trying those crazy ideas that you see at 3am on the infomercials!!...lol
Toradol is NOT narcotic. It is a anti-flammatory. Awesome stuff but only works IV.

Have you tried Aleve? How about a heating pad? Massage? Yoga? Exercize? We always want to automatically reach for pills but maybe for long term effect you need to try something else...like stretching etc.

Hope you get some relief soon!
