when i first startted picking my meth up i had 2 go into a seprate chemist where the entrance is right on the main rd next 2 the main entrance of the normal chemist...everyone that went in there was an addict.so anybody that c u go in there knew u were an addict..i reckon that's wrong..or not ? now i'm at a different chemist and it's different..today my chemist got my subutex box out of the bag and started 2 talk over the counter about my presription..until i told himnot 2 as someone who i don't want 2 know could hear..that's not on neither ..is it ?it's like they just don't care..aaarrgghh !!!!
Hiya Herman,
When Kevin collects his subutex, he has a consultation room which he has to go in. Its actually right behind the counter and it aint actually a room, its just a partitioned wall and everyone can see you, and also everyone knows when someone goes behind there, what they are getting!
I disgree with this, because regardless whether people are on meth or subutex scripts they may wish to keep this private and people you know go into you local chemist.
Also they talk to him over the counter etc and I find it very rude. Kevin has actually mentioned it to his drugs worker because they do have another room which they could use and also they need to be told to keep it hush and treat those people with respect.

But equally if society wasn't so damned ignorant, you shouldn't have to feel ashamed of your disease...there but for the grace of god go all of us...but society is ignorant and judgemental and those who live in glass houses throw stones...people like to look down on others cos it stops them having to admit their own failings...so yeah it's wrong that they don't give you privacy.
I totally agree with that. People are way too judgemental and look down at others less fortunate than themselves, and putting them people down makes thier insecurities not as bad!
Good post herman... this has pissed me off for years now. Up here they have the 'consultation rooms' where you have to go into. In superdrug in the town 3 year ago they wouldn't give you your green unless you went in after 10am. I kicked up f&*k about it as i started in BT at 9.Ended up moving chemists. Yeah, up here you're treated like a 2nd class citizen... all they shallow small minded people( they can all go play with the buses as far as i'm concerned) It used to really really bother me when people saw me getting my green, but now when i go into the chemist i've got my head up, chest out and grin above my chin!! Big deal.. i'm a drug addict... but at least i'm doing something about it!
Good for you, Dee...feel proud.
I took my guy to get his scrip...only picking up subbies...but it's a small town and I'm in a high-profile career...working with kids...but you know what...I'm not ashamed. Could get complicated if ym ex decided to get nasty...oh god people get on my nerves...ignorance breeds contempt...everyone should get educated...that's what drugs ed should teach you at school...hmmm...got me thinking now...drugs ed revolution...think I might be in just the right position to get that goin...
Anyway...yeah hold your head high!

I can understand your frustration with being on display while getting what is a legitimate prescription.
You know,, not too mamy years ago when I was young............well, it really is more than a few years ago lol.....cancer was something that was thought of as almost disgraceful, and was only whispered about. It was almost as if acknowledging the existence of that disease wouild make it spread, and the poor sick person was guilty of having it..
Times have changed, and our perceptions of disease has changed to some extent, but unfortunately, not enough.
Don't let the insensitivity of some people get you down. You are struggling to conquer what is not easy to conquer. Keep you head up, and just remember, sone of the people who look askance now, may be waiting in the same line at the druggist counter for themselves or someone in their family.
Addiction can happen in anyone's life.
Keep on working your recovery, it will be worth it.

Here in The USA I got my methadone from a methadone clinic the whole building only addicts went to. They only had methadone they now have m-done and subs NOTHING ELSE. You don't get recovery meds from a Pharmacy or Chemist. You get m-done subs from clinics that deal with nothing but, recovery meds. well some docs will do subs thru a Pharmacy. Yes a Pharmacy/Chemist has m-done for sick people cancer and pain but no addict gets m-done that way. I always hated waiting in line with tons of other addict. The clinic has a guard in the parking lot people are not allowed to go to each others cars or hang out out front of the building. EVERYONE knows even the police if your on that street why you are there. It always made me feel dirty. It's wrong there should be better ways of doing things. There is a huge sign out front EITC east indiana treatment center it's the last building at the end of a real short street. I hated the whole set up just glad i don't have to deal with it anymore.EVERY PERSON knew if you turned on / off that street you were a junkie. The town people had meetings all the time to try to get the EITC shut down to keep bad people "addict" out of their town. To many it made no diffrence if you were on meds or leaving needles they did not want ya there. The lines were the WORST. It was all a big pain.
Dear Zero girl. My daughter is going to a methadone clinic in Massachusetts, much as you describe. She has mentioned that when she took the bus there during a snowy day, just about everyone on the bus got off at that stop.
Eveidently there are also police in the parking area of the linic to discourage the sale of drugss
she is in a good sized city, and the clinic has been a fixture there for a good many years, so there is no conflict with the neighbors.
I guess the "not in my neighborhood" is a fact of life for some people.
Sad but true.
the clinics do such good for so many people, and I am so grateful that she was able to have help when she needed it.
Let's hope none of the people who oppose the clinics in their area never have the need of one for themselves or a loved one.

Alright...all....Zg.after reading yer post it made me realise how easy i have it concerning my M.M.T.I have to go to Dublin ..bout 70ml.to get my methd.I go in give a sample and then walk out with 13days take home meth....i dont even have to bring back bottles or see my Doc.unless anythin is up.So basically im outta there in half an hr. tops.I cant understand the the ott.leval of security...that you have...o.k outside my clinic dealing gear is a no no ..but just accross the road the dealers are waiting...and most of them also attend the clinic.Seems like even in recovery the powers that be want us addicts to suffer even more for our past misdeeds...but its a disease..so go figure.Take care..all ...Davey
