More methadone madness. Folks in Camden are boycotting a clinic's relocation. They want the clinic to stay where it is.
Oh BUT the move is being made to make way for a campus medical center/facility and G_d forbid that would make it easier for staff and clients. You don't want to do that.
Here's a link as this was in our news yesterday. Apparently John Hopkins has it all down real well and has their clinic inside the hospital. It makes it so much easier to refer people for other services in the same building.

This is why this type of treatment is stigmatized . On one hand it they say its a good , practical idea to be moved into a hospital location- - but on the other hand ,they say this type of treatment center promotes criminal activity.
Does that mean there will be no criminal activity at a hospital location? -or- Do they just want to hide the patients over there so they aren't in the way of new urban renewal projects?

Over here, I see both sides of the methadone stigma. Yes many addicts use their own chemists and are like any other patient. My man gets his first thing with all the old ladies and gents. But in some places the addicts are abusive and violent, so many chemists just refuse to issue it. Which means they have to go to a clinic or inner city chemist which has a meth section all fastened off from the so called normal people. As for criminals some would obviously sell their own mother for some money but nothing really, people object cuz the clinic is depressing not criminal.

They were everywhere, different sections at the same time. Hubby said the guys in early were so mesmorized they were on the clock but watching, not working...They say they had never ever seen anything like this...and they were on the radio telling what they were seeing in different sections...
Either is was planned which is more likely, but right on the heels of that little girl being caught in the crossfire at 3 in the afternoon...She had a big time angel watching over her.

Lawdy, Lawdy there was alot of sick addicts the other day........heck nobody would be working in that...............and the saddest part perhaps is that the poor child being caught in the crossfire has nothing to do with it...........there's an election dagnabit! That and the gentrifiers moving in probably?
Yeah man I recall years ago when they pulled that over here.........only we had a parade of trash trucks, cop cars, and helicopters, and I think even social services.............like "Here we all come to clean on up"...........and BAM all over the city they were busting down doors in their armour..........can't say I blame them poor SWAT guys.............but that's scarey stuff.
Some guy told me "See them helicopters? They can see a pimple on your face".............and everybody goes nuts.............and everybody is sick........and your quick run turns into hours.............and ya got a line of addicts walking here and there............and then of course the opportunists come out with the beat bags..............and you can spend your money and get God knows what.
Poor Camden.................poor little girl..................poor addicts............poor cops.............nuttin right about any of it..............I do have to give up a prayer of thanks as I don't ever want to have to relive that............and of course T I just checked and not a word about it.................and no way am I clicking on that link.............LOL................naked boyfriend.

There are many ,many more people on methadone trying to get their lives back on track then people selling their bottles.
However you don't hear about us- - it doesn't sell, its boring news. What does sell are tales like the one above.
Back in the day- NO-one could ever get on a clinic for taking pain pills. I guess nowadays with stuff like Oxycontin being over prescribed by these wacky doctors , the clinics have to take a look at any addiction to opiates - not just heroin.
I can tell you from my experiences, methadone pills (yeah they have 5 & 10mg pills now) are being sold more than the liquid bottles. The pills come from pain management doctors - not clinics. Of course every clinic has a share of fools selling their bottles, but the media makes it look a lot worse than it is. A few high profile cases- ie. Nicole Smith.. & I don't remember the others because I'm not up on people magazine ,but that's what people hear , so it must be all these addicts selling their doses. Well, I can tell ya > its more about unscrupulous doctors giving out scripts .
Its easier & sexier for a TV corresponent to follow a addict around the corner and tape them selling a bottle, then to follow a patient come out of a doctors office, go to a drug store to get the script filled , wait while they call thier customers on thier cell phone , make appointments for places and times to meet, etc... etc... you get the idea
No matter how people feel about methadone it will always get a bad rap- some deserved , some not derserved

That's that LuAnn Cahn...........she don't play fair............in fact her house sitter had a party at her house and a guest who is a DJ on our local radio stole her undies and outted her granny panties.......she turned the tides and got his elderly dad to let her in with cameras in the guys bedroom! Just a little on her.
Naw, that's up by Bellmont, Jack........I'm not familiar with that clinic......I'm amazed they didn't get someone on camera selling spit cups........and you are right...............it's all about what sells..........sationalize it..........if they followed the law abiding, hard working people coming out of the clinic going to work.....who'd want to see that?
I was in rehab with young kids who had oxy addiction and they got put on methadone.............when I was still out there it was fairly easy to get the "Biscuits" on the street for self-detoxing..........I don't know how it is now......and yep many people getting scripts for pain........I guess that's where they were coming from.
Some of those comments on that link are too much...........we know the truth and the other side..............it's just not dark enough for the media.

My methadone clinic gets a bad rap around here. It's a very small town and we're right on the Tn. / N.C. border which means alot of folks from Tn. come to this clinic. Tn. will not allow clinics. (not anywhere close to here anyway) The problem is all these out of town addicts. They don't mind local junkies but according to the press these out of towners are stealing gas and breaking traffic laws and they don't want them here. They'd really dislike me. I came from Tn. and stayed,LOL.
