Does a large enough dose of methadone remove all the physical symptoms of heroin withdrawl?
Yes. (usually) I should say it depends on how much heroin you're doing a day, and how much methadone you use. If you're only doing 1 or 2 bags a day, 20 or 30 mgs. should set you straight for 24 hrs. or more. If you're strung ot over the top. (a bindle or more a day), I'd say 40 to 70 mgs. a day. Tsteel...eveybodys diff. im presuming yer still smoking 3/4 bags a day as you said on yer other post...but would agree with Shirley(hello) anywhere between 40/70ml should cover you...but if youve only got a certain amount to play with id go for 50ml..&see how you feel after a cple.of hrs.but that should take away most of any withdrawls you may be feeling.As i said it all depends on the amount&strenght of the gear youve been taking...but the amounts mentioned are not that conservitive...hope all goes well.....Davey
i started at 30 which only took away the edge but, was enough to keep me okay till the next day... went up 5 a week till 50 then 10 a week. Everytime i went up things seems a tad better I felt best about 80 no cravings at all was sleeping right i was nodding here and there and later heard that may have been to much. Everyone is diffrent it breaks down diffrent in each persons body...at some point you should find a dose that will level you out you'll be cool. I used it blindly with half intention to get high so i felt great at 80 looking back I was not nodding at 50 and could have been okay with that. I never smoked H or snorted it SO I DON'T know if that makes a diffrene in the cravings or right dose.
A big dose of mdone will take away the physical ills,but the mental deal - of wanting to get that dope high does not go away that easy. For most.it takes a few times of throwing away large amounts of cash trying to acheive that nod,that feeling of ephoria that heroin gives you.
I stayed on a low dose for years ,mainly so I could feel the dope a little .
Now years later,after going up to 90 and down to 40(probably a few times) I am OK with being on 40 and not chasing a high that will never be the same.
One of these days(I havent given up hope) Ill be off for good. If you are really ready to stop with the heroin, 40-50 should be enough no matter how much dope you were using. Maybe more in the beginning ,but once that stuff gets soaked up in your body,most people dont need more than that. Its the mental part that is the stuggle not the physical.
