Methadone Taper

Hey everyone. So I started the clinic about a month ago. I was coming off suboxone and heroin I had been using both for a few years but I didn't want to go up very high on my methadone dose so I only got to about 30 mgs. I am not sick with it but I want to come off it. I am out of money now and had a few bills I was not expecting this month so I can no longer pay them anyway. So tomorrow is my last day taking 30 mgs. After that I will taper 10% of my dose every day for 10 days. Does anyone think this will make me super sick or just uncomfortable? I feel like I will probably feel something coming off that fast but I am kinda scared because I have to be at work for it. Just hope I can handle it okay. Thoughts?
If I were you I'd look up the local NA meetings in your area.

Detoxing is a hard thing but living clean/sober after is harder ....

Good luck.

Hi Compvr
methadone reduction shouldnt make you sick however i reduced from 40ml at 2ml reductions and allthough the 40ml to 10ml was hard i was able to carry on with my daily activities and didnt get many symptoms
a few things to have to hand which may help include
1)hyscosine ( buscopan ) a anti spasmodic which stops cramps in bowel and stomach and can be purchased over the counter .... 2 each dose with water
2) kwells .. amti sickness meds ... again over the counter
3) quinine .( in tonic water ) ..great for stopping leg cramps ... also ( but not over the counter ) gabapentin is great for not just leg cramps but also for any anxiety associated with methadone withdrawal or reduction
the main problem is everyone is different .. when i started the reduction i was scared .. expecting major symptoms every day but nothing major happened .. dont get me wrong you wont be at the top of your game but you wont be ill
and thats why drug reduction accross the board is the best way . it gives you body a slower time to re-adjust and for receptors to get back to normal
finally dont just sit there during reduction .. take up a hobby or even go for a walk ... keeping the mind active is the key
best of luck
